You would have to take the back off of the TV and manually(carefully) pull the disc out with a pair of needle nose pliers..if you force it too much...you will ruin the drive mech...sometimes people put a second cd in the player without realizing there is one in there...other times the dvd player just stops working because it has failed.....you may need a new dvd mechanism as i have seen the drive mechanism on these units go bad often.you can order them through Philips for about $100.00...and it's not too hard to install

HOW TO GET A FULL PICTURE WITH OUT BORDERS ON EACH SIDE

It depends what you're watching: For regular TV, cable, satellite and DVD then you just need to use the Aspect ratio button. It is the PIX SHAPE button. Make sure all your source boxes have their picture menus set for a 16:9 (widescreen) TV.

If you are watching Blu-ray, then the situation is different. Blu-ray expects that you have a 16:9 TV. If you use a Blu-ray player to watch a DVD, and that DVD is an older 4:3 shape movie, then you'll be stuck with the bars left and right. It's the player that formats the picture in that way. There's nothing you can do with the TV controls because they'll be locked to 16:9 mode.

I have the 1513-tdxb polaroid tv dvd combo. the dvd wont load. ive changed the batteries in the remote, but it still wont work.

1. Purchase or borrow a lens cleaner disc and try it first. You can find these things really cheap at any large department store. They usually get the job done well. However, you may need to clean the lens manually if the store-bought cleaner fails.

2. Remove the outer casing of the DVD player. Remove the screws that mount the top casing onto the bottom of the DVD player and slide the top casing off. This will expose the DVD deck, which houses the laser pickup lens.

3. Find the lens. The lens will be glass and under the DVD clamp. The lens will probably have a blue tint to it. If you are having trouble finding the lens, you could shine a light on the components and watch for the reflection.

4. Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the lens. Just a quick scrub will do. Dry the laser pickup lens with the other end of the swab.

5. Give the lens a few seconds to dry and replace the covering of the DVD player. Test the efficiency of the player. If necessary, repeat the process.

Let me know if this doesn't work and we can try other options to get it working.

Thank you for using Fixya and Good luck.

DVD will load disc, repeated clicking noises, then informs me that there is no disk, and shuts down the DVD player.

Your best bet is to go to web site " ShopJimmy.com " enter your model number and see if they have the dvd mech. available. You just don't try and repair those, not only Polaroid, but all that have them 99% of the time can't be repaired. Happy Hunting!!

You need to upgrade to HD. Sd is going to look like you are playing 8-track quality sound on a cd player. Just not a good mix. You should be able to receive some HD chanels via your over the air antenna. Anothr great way to experience HD is to get a Blu-ray player and connect it with a HDMI cable.Your older DVD player may have 480p capability. That means it has a component cable on the back(Red Green Blue). You will still have to hook the audio up after that. Then go into your DVD menu and set it to progressive scan for a 16x9 widescreen. And buy widescreen DVD's from now on. They are made for that TV Good Luck. I reccomend Dish Network, or Direct TV. They both ave well over 100 HD channels and provide all the equipment for free. Once you go HD, you won't be able to go back!
