Having a problem trying to locate the Via command

  • hjl2 Feb 17, 2008

On my Garmin StreetpPilot i5 GPS the solution does not work. I have tried many times while attached via a USB connector on my laptop PC. Is something lost when after entering the last waypoint and entering Start Navigating, then back spacing to My Favorites again to select my first location? After reading the manual again perhaps I have to actually be driving the route rather than at home on my computer. Page 14 Quote: "Note: You can add only one via point at a time to your route. After you drive past a via point, you can add another point to your route". I would appreciate a more detailed sequence of events to make this work. Thank you. Harold Kelsey

Tell the GPS to go to the location you want to go to last. While that waypoint is active, pick the location you want to go to first. Since a waypoint is already active, a prompt should pop up asking you if you want to go to your final location via the new one. Click yes and the GPS will insert the new location into your route. You cannot have more than two destinations at a time.

Hi bought a secon hand Garmin Nuvi 360 and need to urgently update the maps. How do I do it?

Hello,

To get your maps updated there are two options, a onetime update via DVD this will bring your maps to the most current set. You can also purchase a lifetime subscription to the updates, this would be delivered via online download. If you are looking to keep the GPS for more than 2-3 years a subscription is the way to go, 89.99 allows you to download new content every 3 months where a onetime update goes for 54.99 and will only bring it to the current mapset. Either of these can be obtained from us at www.gpscity.ca or for US customers www.gpscity.com.

Hope this helps!

MESSAGE STATES THAT BATTERY IS LOW, AND KEEPS SHUTTING OFF. BATTERY SHOWN ON SCREEN AS DEAD.

plug it in to your computer via the usb cable for a few hours, the car and home chargers are not recommended for the initial charge as there only a trickle charge...if it still hasn't charged up using the usb cable, there is probably a problem with the usb port(charging port)

let me know how you make out after charging it via the usb cable that was supplied with the unit.

I have a garmin 3970t and the voice command does not work

The Garmin's not very good at recognising the default set phrase to initial voice command; i.e. "Voice Command". If you bring up the Tools menu, and touch Voice Command, it will tell you what phrase it's expecting to hear and provide a button to touch to customise it. The default, as I said, is "voice command", but for some reason, it thinks it's pronounced something like "Vwuss commont". Try it. It might work!

I changed my voice command phrase to "Voys Commarnd" (I'm English - it's how my accent would be written phonetically). It now works most of the time without a problem.

I have a Magellan Maestro 4250 and touch screen not responding

Yes. The hard reset is the little pinhole on the left. Just use a pin and poke it. It should bring everything back to factory default and all saved info, addresses, routes etc. will be deleted.

Reciever will not power up

The same thing happened to me. It turns out the USB to serial adapter had issues. Anyway to fix try this. Hold the NAV + Menu and press the power button. Your Sportrak should start up in software upload mode. You can then use the Magup program in expert mode to bring your GPS to life. I had to find a computer with a serial port to fix mine.
