Slow computer If you have a virus program installed, it is most likely is running a scan on your hard disk. It can slow down your computer especially if you have a large hard drive. After scanning is completed then the computer will be faster. To make your computer (hard disk) lean and mean, uninstall any programs you do not use. Also you need to maintain your hard disk by running Disk Cleanup this will remove old temp files and old compressed files etc. This will reduce the number of files the virus scanner has to scan. Plus running Defrag. this makes your files contiguous so the system can access files off the hard drive quicker because it does not work as hard.. Disk Cleanup and Defrag should be carried out at least once a month. If you have 512Mb of RAM installed then installing more RAM will speed up your computer. After installing your graphics card, you may need to disable the built-in graphics card in the BIOS for the new graphics card to work properly.
Try booting with your windows xp installation cd in the drive. See if it will give you a repair or restore option when doing this. If it does not then it's possible your computer has a virus. You can check this by booting up with your anti virus cd in the drive and let it do a system scan. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.
what i can help this...
you select safe mode and remove video driver and reboot your laptop...if it inside the windows normally, try to remove some unused toolbar in add and remove programs..and check also for virus scan..and reboot computer..
First thing that comes to mind is that it is overheating which causes the shutdown problem. When running the ant-virus the computer uses a lot of resources and it gets hot fast. When laptop is turned off, inspect all areas for dust build up around any openings. You can also remove the compartment lids and inspect those too. The best way to clean out dust is to use compressed air that comes in a can and q-tips. Blow the air into all the openings and use the q-tips to whip away dust build up. Once you think that it is clean, turn it on and make sure that the fans are running if your unit has them. While it is running, you can use a free on line scanner that uses less resources just in case it still overheats over time. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ With sufficient cooling, your laptop should perform much better too.
download webroot spyware program and scan for spyware in system then download registery fixer and cleaner tools as the registery gets damaged and clogged with unwanted keys then reboot if you have a exturnal hard drive save all files out and if you have got a restore dvd or cds restore back to manufacture default only if the above programs dont work as your files have been currupted in windows folder once you have done restore factory defaults and set backup all needed files and programs again then install above programs to keep things at bay.
hope you can resolve this without re-installing to factury defaults.
