Adding an extension

Hi, we have Partner 18 phones at my office and I am trying to set one of my empty buttons to be an extension. So, say I want extension 41 to light up on my phone when that person is using their line.

How would I do that?

Hi Eric,

Every partner system programs the same when it comes to your button programming, its very easy and quick to do.

Here is how you do it. On your phone, push the Feature button then dial 00. Push the button you wish to program that has a light (when pushed it should say on your display "blank", if no display don't worry about it), then push the left intercom button, then dial 4 1 . Lift your handset then hang up. Your done.

If you program that button to ba a DSS button for that station (41) it will intercom that station, can be used to transfer calls to that station, and will light up when it's busy. It could be called something else in programming like Station Intercom Button, Quick Transfer Key, etc..

Problem is, your phone can be used on many different Avaya phone systems that all program differently.

The manuals for the phones and systems are all available free at www.avaya.com but you need to know which system you have before looking for the manual.

We have Lucent phone systems in our office. One extension cannot reach another persons extension by simply hitting that button. Any ideas how to fix?

Well, let me think. You could just reprogram the button. They tend to have instructions and Lucent made a lot of different systems, but pretend it's a Partner system. There, you press Feature 00 the button and either the 2 digit extension or * plus 2 digits for voice calling.

Note that this is only for the Partner system and doesn't work on Legend, Magix, Merlin, Spirit, Definity, or IP Office systems.

I need to change my extension.

You can swap extensions 10 and 11 back at the phone cabinet. Remove the front cover(if there is one), depending on the type of partner system you have stations 10 &11 will either be in the center card(ACS) or in the 1st card on the left(partner and partner plus). Both ports should be marked but if not they are the first 2 ports. un-plug 11 and 10 and plug the cord previously in 11 into port 10 and vice versa.

Phone static on the partner 18d

Is it on the same line? What about when you call other extensions, is there static?

If it is a line, swap that line and another. If you have static on the same line port, then it is a port problem of the system. If it follows the dialtone, the line from the phone company is the problem.

Transferring

Since you're asking this question in the Partner 18 category, I'm guessing it's a Partner phone.

1. Transfer from a system phone is done by pressing the TRANSFER button and either dialing the 2 digit extension or the DSS button programmed for that phone.

2. Transfer from a single line phone is by flashing the hookswitch (FLASH) button and dialing the 2 digit extension.

3. Transfer into voice mail is done by programming a button or pressing FEATURE 14 and the 2 digit extension.
