Question about Toshiba Satellite A1O A15 A20 A25 A30 A35 A40 A45 Series 15 inch LCD Display- LP150X06 CD-ROM Drive

4 Answers

Toshiba Satellite A30 won't start-up. When connected to a power supply (NEC PA-1480-19G) there are 2 front lights on (power & battery indicator), but nothing happens when the power button is pushed. When only on battery power (fully charged), most of the front lights flash once, then go out, when the power button (or the Mode button) is pressed. Please advise how best to resolve this issue.

Exact same problems, any advice please

I believe my laptop has exactly the same problem.

When the mains power adapter is used, the mains power lamp goes steady green, and the battery light goes first orange and then steady green also. These are light numbers 3 and 5, counting from the left. In this state, nothing happens when I try to start the laptop using the power button.

Without the mains adapter, ie when on battery only, and I press the power button, five of the seven indicator lights flash once. From the left these seven lights read, Green, Green, Off, Green, Yellow, Off, Green. Again, when I press the power button in this state, nothing happens. I suspect these lights show a fault code pattern, but I can't find what the pattern means.

similar but mine all lights light up with power adapter plugged in including the wireless light.

When battery only then lights all come on then off when power button pressed. If hold down or turn on 3 times then the lights stay on and power button wont shut it off.

I've just been told by a laptop expert that the problem is alost certainly a power component built into the motherboard. So the motherboard needs replaced £299, rendering laptop non-viable for repair.

If I had a working motherboard, he would charge £75 to fit it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Does anyone have a working motherboard for A Satellite A30?

Does anyone want a Satellite for a screen, PSU, Keyboard, Ram? (I'm going to keep the hard drive)

I have exactly the same problem with the same machine.

The CPU sink has been cleaned, and the problem still exists. This solution works when the laptop overheats, and shuts down regularly. This is npt a solution for this problem. Can anyone else suggest what to look at next?

Okay, what does that light indicate? (hard drive activity, power plugged in, battery, etc). It most likely indicates a faulty power supply or damaged battery unit.

Remove the battery and check the voltage on the battery, if low try to JUMP charge, if not replace. Also check the charging voltage with the adaptor connected to the latptop. If there is no voltage then the charger must be checked.
However if the battery and adapter seems good then the mother board is a suspect and it is ideal to get the help of Tosibha service for estimation.

What do the various led light colors mean? I have

The LEDs each indicate something is conected or normal. There is one for hard drive activity, power, battery, and wireless. Blue is good. Orange is bad. First take the charger to a shop to have it checked. If bad replace it. If good the the problem is either battery or the connector on laptop. Since the battery is new it sounds like the connector to me.

My Toshiba Satellite A30 laptop keeps switching off when charging. It works fine when on the battery but seems to overheat when I use it whilst charging the battery. Can you help ?

I would suggest that you try it with another AC adapter first, because it seems the adapter is faulty and therefore supplying more current into the laptop than necessary.
If it works perfectly with another AC Adapter, then you might just have to change your AC Adapter.
Hope it helps.
Goodluck!

Power up problem

it has nothing to do with the ram, it is the issue of the adapter or battery for toshiba laptop, if the output volatge form the adapter is not steady, the light will get yellow and blink, try it on another toshiba laptop. if it is normal, u should test the toshiba laptop battery by the multimeter, connect the electroprobes wiht the anode and cathode, if the pointer does not fixed in a short time ,the battery is the issue. change it for a new one.

Toshiba A30 LAPTOP

No lights is not good. Power supply issue fo sure. Check th epower supply cable to your laptop. Are you running it on battery, or from a wall socket. Are you using it via a safety surge board, make sure the se are all funtioning too. If still nothing, you may have to take it to a repair shop as power suply may be damaged. Also if system has 110v/220v switch on back make sure it is set to 110v, and try again. Good luck lilacgerry xxx
