Msn Messenger times out with SPV C500 - problem

By Brad - usenet poster

Hi,

My friends new Orange C500 has a bug, Msn Messenger times out after 5
minutes..  it's a real nuisance because i can't message him for free
via my pc and a waste of gprs contract for him too. Orange refuse to
help because they don't support msn messenger, they say it's more than
likely a msn server problem but when we put his sim chip in his old
SPV E200 it all works as it should...  any ideas whats causing this?

Thanks

malc.

but are these just rumors or a fact?

I mean that agile messenger is using 3rd party server where all your
passwords of hotmail are going through or not?

what 3rd party messenger for ms smartphone is connecting directly to
microsoft's servers then???

I sent Agile an email asking if their system was secure... here is
their reply.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Malcolm

We use RSA encryption for any data sent between Agile Messenger and
our servers and do not log any user info.

Kind regards

this is bullsh...

that can't be proven. anybody could claim it.

they should rather reprogram their agile messenger that it should use
directly microsoft's servers, withouth using their own servers.

ask them what is their business model if they give agile messenger for free?

it must be collecting user info (emails) for spamming purposes or something.

it is strange that they must use intermediary servers...

Glad it's sorted, must admit I also use Agile instead of the built in app, this of course allows me to access my ICQ, AOL and Yahoo accounts also :)

I just wonder whether agile is using some tertiary server or is agile
connecting directly to Microsoft's MSN messenger servers... it is very
important...

ask him to use free messenger from  http://www.agilemobile.com/ for MSN
messenger service (it has also other standards).

otherwise some tiny program that would ping and keep connection alive would
be a solution.

Probably nothing to do with it but MS have been doing maintenance on the Messenger network with time outs being expected.
