I'm getting a very loud Clicking noise every time i turn the printer on, after every print and also when the printer is turned off. I've had no paper jams, the cartridges are orignal and i've not forced the carrage at any time. there's nothing stuck in the printer. the print quality is still very good and all the other fuctions work fine. if any one can offer any information it would be a great help

Your rollers may be worn and when they are trying to pick up the paper they are not able to . Buy taking your printer to an authorized technician for a maintenance cleaning this should resolve your issue.
So try to get the black toner cartridge out of the Machine. On zhe backside of the Cardridge is a gear. Try to turn the gear, maybe the Toner inside is clump together. When you can turn it very easy in both directions it's fine.
Ok this Sounds Crazy but it worked for me and its easy to try. Unplug the unit and pick it up and turn it side ways and gently shake it. Sometimes a small piece of plastic has broken loose and is interfering with the works and if you can dislodge it from its current location it will stop. Be careful not to hurt youself doing it. Also, I have one printer with a missing tooth on one of the gears and has been growling at me for a long time.
Best of Luck,
Make sure that the paper guides in your paper tray are not holding the paper too tight against the front of the tray, there should be about 1/16 inch play so that the paper can be lifted to the roller easily. Also take out your toner and drum and turn it on, if the grinding noise is gone you may need a new toner, some refilled toners are too tight to turn properly.
