Canon Pixma MP530 clicking

I'm getting a very loud Clicking noise every time i turn the printer on, after every print and also when the printer is turned off. I've had no paper jams, the cartridges are orignal and i've not forced the carrage at any time. there's nothing stuck in the printer. the print quality is still very good and all the other fuctions work fine. if any one can offer any information it would be a great help

Same problem with me and I have the printer now a year

The Clicking i get is not electrical, it's more of a stuck cog clicking but i don't know which cog it could be because everything works fine.

VERY loud clicking noise when 'warming' up before printing (wakes kids up in the next room...), but everything works fine.

I have the same issue. There's this loud clicking noise every time it's turned on or when there is a fax coming in, or a new print job.

Checked the phone jack it's fine.

When turning on the printer and while preparing to print, there is a loud sound like plastic gears stripping. I don't know if there are timing gears or if there's a track that it might have slipped from that is causing it. The printing is fine, but am sure something's going to either burn out or strip smooth.

I have the same issue of clicking on start up. It is like a gear is being grinded. Has anyone called Canon? GW

It is nothing to do with a phone jack, trust me this sounds like internal crunching and munching... but as reported by the others, no jams, no printing errors, just loud clicking and clunking!

Same loud click/grinding here too. I will *NEVER* buy a Canon printer again in my life.

Yep the phone jack; it was in the wrong one.. The clicking stoped. Thank You!!

I had clicking when I set up the unit. I realized I plugged the phone line into the wrong jack. The clicking went away when I found the right jack for the phone line.

Go to the Control Panel. Double click on Printers and Faxes. Right click on the mp530, click Properties, Maintenance, Cleaning. Do a test pattern when requested. If it doesn't look correct, click Cleaning again, or Deep Cleaning.

Canon Pixma MP780 makes a loud clicking noise. No paper jammed anywhere. It seems to be the gears where the cartridges are.

i have th same exact problem, just took much of it apart, bu still cant see why it makes the loud noise, also I cant switch paper feed to back, which at least would allow it to print from there... please let me know if you find a solution.

My canon pixma mp530 makes a loud noise most times when it powers up and when i print a document. It works OK otherwise.

My MP-530 would try to boot up making a noise like something slipping or grinding, ending with ERROR Code 5100.

Solution: Open the Lid. The drive belt was loose and not able to drive the carriage. There is a gear on the right side of the carriage and a pulley on the left side of the carriage. The spring which holds the pulley tight is missing or broken. I was not able to see the tension spring. To put tension on the pulley, to tighten the drive belt, I cut a Popsicle stick into a wedge and inserted it into the middle slot right of the pulley.
Close the lid and power back on. Runs like new. Hope this helps.

Loud clicking/vibraton noise after printing when heads reset

Follow instruction into the manual and to a reset to factory defaults. This should align and correct the issue. If not you have defective heads. Contact the factory for warranty replacement.

Canon PIXMA 530 grinds away

I had a persistant grinding noise about 30 seconds after the printer finished printing. It's been going on about 2 months. I did one thing which seemed to work. So try opening the cover on the back of the machine by lifting upward on the gray lever in the middle of the back of the machine. Leave this cover open during and after printing. The grinding noise went away.

Canon MP530 error code "5C10" ?

I had a similar problem. I replaced all the ink cartridges and cleaned the printer.  I checked the nozzles to be sure that they were clean and cleaned the area where the cartridges set.  It took a little while but my printer is working again.  Mine makes a clicking sound after you push the copy button but still pulls the paper through.  Does yours pull the paper through at all?
