Have the same problem with my machine. After checking the pipe was clear (black one below the soap tray) and trying all sorts. I rang Hotpoint describing the problem, they said do a boil wash as this would clear any soap powders throughout the machine. Tried this, but 30 mins from end of program the machine won't spin even when the light comes on. So I used the pump-out feature and then done the Slow spin, Followed by the fast spin. No leaks. Then tried the rinse and spin feature, 3.5mins later water sprayed from the bottom of the tray to 2 feet away from the machine. Failing any possible advice from several forums, I will have to pry the wallet open and let Hotpoint rip me off with their costly charges.

After my wd440 leaked all over the kitchen, i followed the solution detailed above (posted on feb 29th) and it worked perfectly!

managed to find 4 colour catchers in the ball filter, so they have now been banned from being used in the machine.

also found £4.05 - so not all bad!

I have no solution for your problem but thought you might like to know that my new towels and my old towels and my sainted mother's knickers are tearing themselves to pieces. My Hotpoint mechanic told me so.

The solution from the Guest on feb 29th is spot on. I happened to have the Hotpoint engineer out this morning and he done the same thing. Works spot on now

I had this problem with my machine, but if you turn it on it's side and look underneath you can see a large rubber pipe, if you unclip this you will find a little cage and a plastic ball about the size of a golf ball. clean these and put it back together and it will work once again.

Hotpoint wd440 flashing dryer heat button and onoff button !

I had to have a tech come out for the same problem two weeks ago. They had to clean the lint collector which you cannot get to on your own. He said now that this has been done everytime I use the machine, take the clothes out and then run a rinse spin cycle.

Aquarius Hotpoint WD440. 1400 Spin

The next step should be the pump out. If it is not pumping check your pump filter for obstructions. Check the drain hose and also your drain in the wall. If all are clear you may have a bad pump. You should have an error code coming up when the machine stops also, please let me know what it is. Thanks and I hope I can FixYa.

Hotpoint Aquarius wd440 washer/dryer wont pump out water HELP!

hold the start button for 5 seconds this should clear previous program. then select drain on your dial. press start as normal and machine will drain. if this does not work the only other remedy is with help, making sure the end of the drain hose is higher than drum at all times take machine outside, lean it back at 45 degrees agaist a wall with a towel or similar covering lid to stop scratching . working from underneath loosen the large jubillee clip that connects the drum to pump drain hose to the drum. As the drum is overfull there is no recepticle large enough to fit under so just let water just flow away. Dry every thing off. make sure you don't loose ping pong ball in filter and make sure filter is clear. refitting is reverse of removal

Hotpoint WD440

On the power pcb panel, there is an eeprom. This gets corrupted and throws the machine into a frenzy. A replacement should include a new pcb and a new eeprom. Only from dealers unfortunately.

Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 Error

Remove the white plastic cover on the back near the bottom. To the right as you look at it their will be a black concertina pipe with a hose clip on its top edge. Undo this and pull the pipe downwards to reveal the filter. There will be a plastic ball inside (which is supposed to be there) remove this and clear out the cr*p.

Re-assemble as removal.

That should fix it
