The reset button for your router can be found at the back of the router
it is hidden by a small siver hole.simply push a pen into this hole for 10secs..alll the lights should then blink and the light in the shape of a tick should come on..wait until this light goes off n then open ur web browser and enter the following url

htp://192.168.0.1 or the url found on the back of the router
enter the password given (if any) n ur good to go

Most routers have a reset button on the back. Sometimes hard to see, but it should reset it back to its defaults if you push and hold it in for 60 seconds or so.

How do I change password to connect to internet

You need to have access to your router's settings. Normally, you can access it via your computer browser and use your computer's default gateway.

Normally, the default IP address of Netgear router is 192.168.1.1 and you can use the default username and password to log in. Normally, it's Admin and Admin or blank for username and admin for password.

How do i connect to apples time machine?

You can manually configure the time machine to accept wireless signal from the router or extender. If you setup WEP on the router or extender, make sure you setup WEP on the time machine as well.
For instructions in setting up wireless settings of Time Capsule click on this link -->>

Hope this works for you.

It sounds like you have your max amount of users reached. You need to go into your router and set the amount of users that can connect to the internet. Either via program on the computer or actually consoling in to the router.

Hope this helps out.

I have a NetGear Wireless Router which wont connect to internet.

Verify that you can connect to the internet without the router by hooking the cable from the dsl modem to your computers NIC.

If you can connect to the internet that way the problem is with the router. press and hold the reset button on the back of the router to reset it to the factory settings. (this just makes it easy to determine the problem) if this corrects the problem you can setup your security again

Hi Guest….not sure why this issue is occurring, but this is what I would do:

1. Connect to router via Ethernet cable (not wireless)

2. Try 1234 instead of password

3. Ensure caps lock is off (OK, it’s an old one, but it can happen)

4. If the router came from your ISP, check their website – sometimes they install their own firmware and default password (eg, UK Sky users - try password sky)

5. Reboot your router, then see if it accepts the defaults

6. If you bought the router new, it's fresh out of the box, and you’re setting it up – and the defaults don’t work - contact Netgear

7. If anyone else set up the router, or you bought it second-hand, or you think the password has changed and you don't know the new password- it’s time to consider a hard reset.

This is a last resort, as it will clear all settings and cut off your internet connection, until you set up the router again. A hard reset is only recommended for experienced users (ie if you set up your own router in the first place). However, if this doesn’t restore defaults either, contact Netgear.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

No connection trough router

Hi Thumbsucker,

Oftentimes with Netgear routers, before an Internet connection can be established, you'll need to run the Wizard setup routine on the router itself. Many other manufacturers don't require this, but if you're connecting to a PPPoE connection (such as DSL) then the Netgear requires said basic setup.

On the bottom of the router itself you'll see some information. It'll tell you the default IP address (such as 192.168.0.1) and a basic username and password (the default for most Netgear routers is admin for the username and password for the password). Plug your computer into one of the four switch ports on the router (not the uplink/Internet port) and type in the IP address of the router (again, such as 192.168.0.1) into your Web Browser (such as Internet Explorer). If it asks for a username/password then punch in the info given on the bottom of the router. At that point you should be able to answer the basic questions to get you online.

There is a chance that your modem and your router have the same IP address; in that case, you'll need to manually change the IP address on the router.

If by chance you can't get into the router via the information provided on the bottom of the device, take a paper clip and, with the router powered up, hold in the reset button for 30 full seconds. This will reset the device to its default factory settings.
