Try to reset your internet connection. If you are using a modem, close the modem for a minute then turn it on again.
If you are using a router, push the tiny reset button at the back.
Open your Internet Explorer
Click on Tools then click Internet Options
Click the LAN settings button under the Connections tab
Check the Use Automatic Configuration Script box.
Remember or copy the URL that is currently shown in the address box below the check box.
Delete the URL that is currently shown in the address box, and simply replace it with a space character.
Click OK in the (LAN) Local Area Network settings box.
Now click the LAN settings again.
Clear the Use Automatic Configuration check box that you have checked earlier.
Click OK in the LAN settings box.
Click OK on the Internet Options box to close it.
Click Start button on your desktop, and then select Shut down to restart your computer.

Outside factors that affect connection speeds <p>Unfortunately, there are events and conditions that are outside your control. Even with a fast connection, external factors, such as busy websites or spreading computer viruses, can slow the entire web. Popular websites can become overwhelmed with users. For example, when a television commercial mentions a website, many people might try to visit the site at the same time. If the website isn't prepared to handle the traffic, you might encounter delays.<br /> <p>During times of heavy computer virus outbreaks, the Internet can slow down. Many viruses spread by causing computers to send out hundreds or thousands of copies of the virus. This can slow the Internet by sheer volume. You can see what major outbreaks are currently happening by visiting your antivirus vendor's website, or the <a href="http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=42641">Security at Home</a> website.<br /> <p>Local Internet congestion can also result in slower-than-normal connection speeds. These slowdowns occur when many people try to connect to the Internet at the same time, and they occur most often at peak activity times, such as after school hours when students get home and connect to the web.<br /> <p>If you're on a corporate network, general network and proxy server use can affect your Internet performance. Most network administrators monitor Internet use, and will try to keep people from doing things like downloading large files during peak hours. If you find that your Internet access is slow at times, you might discuss it with your network administrator.<br />

My acer aspire 5740 with windows 7,freezes everytime i connect to the internet.pls help asap.

If your computer or laptop freezes on a regular basis, chances are it has acquired a virus or a series of viruses.

Press "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" when your computer is frozen. This will launch a Windows Security window.

Hit "Shut Down..click on the "up" arrow beside a red button located at the bottom-right corner of your screen. Select "Restart." Wait until Windows finishes the rebooting process.

Launch your web browser and install an antivirus program. AVG, Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky are all reputable makers of antivirus software and downloads

Restart your system after you have finished installing the antivirus program.

Launch the program and run a complete virus scan. Wait until your antivirus program completes the task and detects the virus infection. Follow its prompts to remove the virus.

Run virus scans at least twice a week. This will prevent your computer from getting another virus that causes problems such as the screen freezing.

Can not connect to the internet can receive e mails but won't let me shut windows down

Sounds like you have a virus.

I you have anti-virus software you should turn your PC off (using the power button if it won't shut down any other way) and reboot it in safe mode. Then run your anti-virus program. I am assuming you are running Windows.

If you need more detailed instructions please respond here with a comment and I will be happy to help.

Sounds like you could indeed have a virus.

Try downloading the following program: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button, Installing it, running a scan, then restarting your computer to see if this helps. Hopefully this will pick up any infections and remove them. Let us know how you get on :)
