Hi Paddy,
It sounds like the color ink cartridge is clogged. You can try taking the color cartridge out, and take a paper towel and some windex with amonia. Spray the paper towel with the windex and then take the color cartridge, and wipe the bottom of the ink cartridge. After wiping the bottom of the cartridge, try pressing on the bottom of the cartridge (Print head) with the paper towel...You should start seeing some ink soaking into the paper towel. If you do not see any ink on the paper towel, then try wiping it again with the windex/paper towel. If after a couple tries, you can not get the ink to flow from the print head, then I would suggest getting a new cartridge.
The HP ink cartridges can get a bit tricky and the print heads will clog when the printer is left sitting for a long period of time.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

I have just connected a HP Deskjet 3940 to my new acer computer and it is not printing. I went in print then options and clicked on a few things but still not working. Have new cartidges in 22 and 21

un install the printer driver, reboot ,windows should detect new hardware ,and then insert the cd that came with the printer select have disc and re-install the software.
if your acer has vista you may need to get a vista driver for it,or worse the printer is not compatible with vista.

good luck

Have hp officejet 6300 which prints well, but everything is shifted about an inch to the right, meaning there is no right hand margin, and a large left hand one.

hi the problem is goint to be with the software not the printer if the print quality is fine and its just the page allignment thats out then you will need to reinstall the software that came with the printer this will reset everything back to factory settings and this should then solve your problem.
Also have you looked at the print preview to see if it is ligned up properly on the page let me know ok then i can assist you further ok

We have a new computer. We used to have our hp officejet All-in-one on our Gateway ME. We were wondering if we could install our All-in-one to our new Gateway Vista???

You'll have to go to the HP site and download the Vista drivers for that printer, but it should work. Install the software first, then plug the printer into the USB port!.

Double sided printing

There should be a setting in the 2-sided properties for binding orientation.

For a MAC, do this:

On the File menu, click Print.
Open the Two-Sided Printing panel.
Select the option to print on both sides.
Select the binding orientation by clicking the appropriate icon.
Change any other settings, and then click Print.

HP Printer Conflict

Perform a clean and "No bloated" installation of the hardware.
Uninstall ALL the HP printer software, disconnect the PSC and reboot the computer.
When windows finish to load, connect the PSC again, the new hardware wizard will show up, follow the instructions with the HP Installation disk in the drive.
IMPORTANT: When a silver sand glass show up in the screen, CANCEL the installation of the HP software (this is by clicking "CANCEL" button or by no accepting the license terms). This will install only the PSC Drivers and nothing else.
Try printing again.

HP Deskjet 840c - Printing Emails

I did see you reinstalled your software) but please continue
It is important that you have that icon by the clock. Power off the printer by pressing the power button on the printer.
Please un-install your printer software through Add/Remove Programs within the control panel. Please restart the Pc after un-install is complete. Create a folder on your hard drive and name it, "HP DeskJet 840C". Go to this link listed below & download the printer driver software listed. When you save to disk you can choose where you want to save. Pick the folder you created. Save inside this folder. The HP driver (Will most likely be updated software). I promise, you will have a icon down by your clock when finished.

Follow the instruction in your manual for setup & installation.
If you using Outlook Express & you want to print or send through your printer the page should be set as 8.5x11". Orientation should be set to Portrait, unless you set this for A4.
Lastly, please turn off your anti-virus software during install & re-install. Just in case you come back to this thread!
