I have a century wire weed welder 225 amp. As soon as I flip the power switch the wire feed motor goes on full speed and is not adjustable. This happens with the trigger switch disconnected. I checked the the wire feed speed adjust and its ohms vary as I adjust the knob, as it should. I feel sure that there is a problem with the small board that these are connected to. The board consist of several components but I suspect that what I believe is a two prong transistor (ASI MJ900 8712) is the problem. Anyone know if I am on the right track or should I look for something else.

It will be a problem relay that turns the feed motor on when the trigger is pressed
that relay is either permanently energized from the board or has failed and the points are stuck together

SOURCE: I have a century wirefeed 225 amp welder that goes

sounds like a component is over-heating, this would possibley be located on a power resistor attached to a large heat sink, try the set again, when it goes into high speed, detach the plug from the wall socket, taking extream care, gently touch the power resistors for high temperators, these normally run hot so the faulty one will be abnormally hot, be extreamly aware of the large capacitors, they will be fully charged and will give you an awfull belt.

My Lincoln weld pak 100 feeding wire but can get an arc

There are several things that could cause this:
1. The relay (contactor) that switches on the arc is not closing and it could be bad.
2. The diodes in the power supply are bad.
3. The low voltage transformer is bad.

Hi,I have a 225 amp wire feed by powermate, model #117-042. The wire feed motor won't turn over. I took it out and applied 24v, and it works fine. I pull the trigger and can here a clicking sound, like a...

Sounds like the circuit board is a good suspect.
Sometimes a resoldering of compoment leads will fix things.
You can also replace the circuit traces with individual wires

Sounds like you have already done a good trouble shoot, so I hope this info helps you get back in action

I have a firepower fp130 mig welder . I have been using 0.30 wire, can I use bigger wire in it,if so how do I adjust the welder for it

The only thing you need to do is change the tip to the 0.30, and feed the wire. If no 0.30 tip is included with the welder it just isn't designed for that wire. You will also need to flip your friction feed wheel at the box to match the diameter.

Ave a power mate 225 amp 240 volt welder that wont arc

Sounds to me like the Power Controller has gone bad. These are a real tricky, dangerous, things to fix yourself, I recommend that you call the service rep, for Power Mate, and cut your losses.

Lincoln 3200hd. welder, when power switch turns on, the fan comes on, but when i pull the trigger on gun to start to weld nothing happens the wire does not feed. i am not sure what is happening

open the area were the role of wire is and check when trigger pulled if any action to feed motor. [wire might be stuck at end, or there usually is a small fuse in that area for feed motor]

Wire doesn't feed

Either the trigger mechanism in the gun is bad, the servo that turns the feed wheel is bad, or you have too much tension on the adjustable tensioner knob. Take the wire out of the feed wheel, plug unit in and see if you can get the wheel to turn. If not, it is the trigger or the servo. If it turns, the tensioner was too tight.
