Air conditioning and heated rear screen

I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent. The air conditioning and the heated rear screen have suddenly stopped working. I have checked the fuses and they all seem fine. Any ideas please. Many thanks . Dippy!!!

What sounds to me that you have two difarent problems this could be an accident that they have stopped together.
You may check the Relays as described above first if you like.

For the aircon you must check that the aircon pump in the engine bay to see if the inner shaft is turning when the aircon is on .
This will determine if the switches and circuits in your car are functioning.

The best way to check the rear demistor is to have a volt meter and check you have 12 volts on the wires connecting to the Screen, if you do have 12 volts than your circuit on the screen is broken. If you don't than you have to start tracing your circuit from the switches to relays or to fuses back to screen using test lamp or volt meter.

Sounds like a relay is out. These are devices that switch on high amperage accessories that a normal toggle switch would burn out trying to start due to the powerful amp draw. They are shaped like ice cubes in the fuse panel and pull out just like a plug. They should be labeled in the fuse box cover. Generic item that can be bought at the local parts store usually.

When I work on my laptop it suddenly shut down, blue screen, many written things, and

This sounds like a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Check for that in Google. Image at

Did that happen once or is it more frequent?

It could be heat, blow out the dust bunnies with compressed air.

If it is infrequent, it is a part of the price of using Windows.

If it is more frequent, try to see what the failures have in common. If you are always using the same program when it happens, see if there is an upgrade for the program.

More information will be necessary to solve this.

Dell XPS runs for approx 15 min then powers off

sounds like a heat issue, most processors today come with a fail safe, at a predetermined temp they will shut the pc down with little to no warning unless you have a warning system installed, now as to what causing this, yes it could be your fan, turn your pc on and check to see if the fan is spinning, if not then it is either broken, jammed or unplugged from the mother board, if you have a can of air handy i suggest you try blowing any debris and dust out of the fan, if it is spinning then you have a airflow issue or your cpu fan has done one of two things, one, stopped working or has come unattached from your cpu, if it has come unattached from your CPU then you will need to re-seat it, but make sure you apply some thermal paste before you do so, if you do not have any paste, radio shack or your nearest pc shop will, apply a small amount of paste (about the size of a dime) to the cpu, reseat the fan, and that should help, also be sure to blow out the dust from your heat syncs, hope this helped

When my Gateway 300S is powering up, it recycles.

If you repeatedly hit F8 key when the computer starts to boot it will open the boot menu screen. There should be an option to "halt computer on all errors". This should bring up the blue screen of death. It should give you something like
STOP: 0X0000007E, the a whole bunch of other numbers. after that it may display a file name. You can search the internet for STOP: 0X0000007E and the file named mentioned. You may be able to find a solution by doing this. It is usually caused by a bad driver or executing a bad command on Windows start up. You can boot the computer in safe mode from the boot menu and maybe repair the problem but it's a tough one to find. I'm trying to repair a similar Gateway computer. It doesn't list a file name and I'm pretty sure that it's a video driver or the onboard video card. The problem is Gateway is no longer in business and it's hard to find updated drivers I"m going to try to backup all the files on the drive and re-install windows and try to repair the drivers with more updated ones. The gateways are hard because they don't have slots in the motherboard to install anything but an old PCI video card. It may be time to think about a new computer soon.

I have a Dell PC-5251-2DS power supply. Am getting vertical stripes on the screen and the machine dies. Have a slight burning smell which makes me wonder if its the power supply. Would you concur?

The burning smell could be coming from the video card. Stripes on the screen indicate faulty video memory, shouldn't have anything to do with the power supply.

Bestec ATX-250-12E problems

Hi the power supply fan is jammed because of some object stuck - this could be some broken plastic component of the fan or the protection grill could be jamming it . Do not switch your comp before checking this out because inadequate or no air cooling can damage your computer .In Power off condition with a small screw driver try rotating the fan manually or by blowing air into the fan , it should spin smoothly else your power supply to be replaced .

You need a new power switch. I am currently working on a S4020WM with the same problem. I cut one wire to the power switch, then used a paper clip to make a jumper to start the machine. It has run fine since then. The only trouble I am having is finding a replacement switch.
