I have a Asus P4P800 SE and the PS/2 ports do not work, there is a small amount of damage on the corner next to them, is there supposed to be a small component there and how can I access the bios without a PS/2 keyboard as my USB keyboard does not work untill windows (vista) kicks in

No, there is nothing on the corner where you say it is damaged, i have one of these boards and still have the manual, the ps/2 sockets might have come away from the board and may need to be resoldered if anything. I am curruntly using a usb keyboard on my pc, and using vista, the keyboard automatically kicks it when post screen appears, what make of keyboard do you have? I suggest getting hold of another usb keyboard, they should be generic as soon as the computer posts. There is nothing in the manual that says there is a setting to change keyboards from ps/2 to usb. They should be generic.

Most Asus motherboards by default have the USB ports enabled in the bios.
Buy the item, Y adapter below to bypass the PS/2 keyboard port on the motherboard; http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1538&sku=27225
You should be able to enter the bios using a USB port. Or buy a single PS/2 to USB; http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1538&sku=35700

Cmos settings error system hait,

You will need access to another computer and go to: http://www.asus.com/, choose you country, then "Download", the on the next page, "Download" again. Select you "Product, Series and Model". Motherboard, Socket 478, P4P800-SE click "Search". Then choose you operating system. You will get to the page where you can download the latest BIOS, and install program. Read how to upgrade your BIOS and follow the directions carefully.

I suggest you also change the CMOS battery before you upgrade to make sure a dead battery is not the cause for the CMOS corruption.

Start up problem with Asus P4P800

How old is your power supply (PS)?

You are able to boot by removing the two HD since they are consuming much from the PS. Try a 500 watt PS.

Hope this helps!

Asus P4p800 se Mainboard USb Ports not working

it would seem that you are not the only one with this problem with the USB's, the only soloution i have found that people say works is to reset the cmos (remove motherboard battery without any power cord attached) for 10 mins, or, go into the bios and reset to default/optomised defaults

hope this helps

Installing mother board without a manual

Here is a link to the ASUS download website:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

In the upper left corner, you will need to enter either p4c800 or p4p800 and in "select category" highlight "Manual".

Hit search and it will bring you to all of the versions of that motherboard. Select yours and it will bring you to the manual download page. There are lots of options, just make sure you get the right language and you are set to go!
