Ok well first there is no way around the charger problem, you will have to buy another one. Second It's easy to fix your screen but it voids your warranty. Since your screen is broke, you will also have to buy another screen. You can get one for about $20. To fix the screen follow these steps:
1)Take out the battery and remove stickers located right behind the battery
2)Unscrew the screw under the stickers, there is 2. There is 2 more screws on the other side of the psp, you will see the holes with screws in them. On the bottom of the psp there is your last one.
3)Next simply gently pull your front faceplate off.
4)Remove the home buttons right below the screen by using the screw driver the lift up on the left where its attached to the screen and it will come off
5)Use a small knife to take the screen out by putting the knife in between the screen and the plastic brackets holding it and lift up, do this for each corner.
6)Lift up on the connectors that hold the ribbons from the screen. Be careful this is where you can break it. On the bigger ribbon lift the black part of the connecter up. On the smaller connector lift up on the black part.
7)Replace it with a new screen and put it back together. Here is a link for a pic that shows the connectors. In step 6 the connectors would be 2 and 3 in the pic.http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://load.hostphotofree.com/4d9ccaafe02877cc17a53d64e6f4dea9/psp1000motherboardflexcablesocket10.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.logictoyz.com/sony-psp/sony-psp-1000/sony-psp-1000-parts/psp-umd-motor-clip-connector-on-motherboard.html&usg=__bYJLR5Qhs3O3mOw2LnPMnenz3rs=&h=633&w=1023&sz=307&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=gxhu8KOTYiktUM:&tbnh=117&tbnw=189&ei=3XaeTeWcNMW4twfo5byEAw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpsp%2B1000%2Bmother%2Bboard%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26biw%3D1525%26bih%3D779%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=1200&vpy=153&dur=412&hovh=117&hovw=189&tx=162&ty=93&oei=3XaeTeWcNMW4twfo5byEAw&page=1&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0
You'll need to hard reset your PSP and restore it to its factory settings. Once this is done, your PSP should work perfectly.
Hold the power button on the right side of your PSP down until the device completely powers off. Wait at least five seconds after the power is off before proceeding to the next step.
Press and hold the Select and Start buttons located in the bottom right corner of the PSP.
Press and hold the Square and Triangle buttons (located on the directional pad) while continuing to hold the Select and Start buttons.
Press the power button while holding these four buttons. When the flash (logo) screen appears, you can release the four buttons and your PSP will be reset to its factory settings and the screen will no longer be blank.
EVERY PSP has a WLAN switch. if it's the old model it's on the left side of the PSP. if it is a "psp slim" then it is on the very top of the psp just left of the usb connection. slide it right to turn it on.
Since your replacing the faceplate only, only remove the screws on the outside border. not the two on the right side of the battery. * The bottom silver screw (located on the bottom part, opposite the top part, which has the USB port) * The top left black screw (underneath the battery) * The bottom left black screw (underneath the battery and the left side of the warantee sticker) * The top right screw (located on the back side of the psp in a hole on the outer casing) * The bottom right screw (located on the back side of the psp in a hole on the outer casing)
