Sounds like the blue CRT is failing. You might be able to squeeze a little more life out of it by adjusting the blue screen control, but it will fail again very soon and the blue tube will need replaced.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/

I took back panel off. I turn on tv The blue bulb gets very bright and the green and red projection bulb goes out and now it shuts off. and the blinking starts it a code flashing but don't know the code to find out whats wrong. would someone help if u can been wife and I laid off from work 3 months now cant afford tech prices on our employment. wife and I has 2 little girls to raise. along with the rest of u parent out there and one getting employment cant offord repairs. If the lamp and standby lights are both flashing and the timer light is off, check that the lamp cover on the back of the TV is properly positioned in the groove and secured by the screw. Take it off and check that the screws that hold the lamp itself are secure. There is an safety feature that keeps the lamp from turning on when the lamp cover is off.
If the three lights (timer, lamp, and standby) are blinking, then the lamp needs to be replaced. If the timer and standby lights are blinking and the lamp light is off, then a cooling fan isn't working. When only the standby light is blinking and the other lights are off, the unit is overheating and a ventilation area may be blocked.
It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen. Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while? If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution. Thanks.
I suggest doing a google search using the tv model # and brand. I have learned myself that different big screen tvs seem to each have their own common problems. I have read before of power supply issues that cause what your describing.
