I had some problems with my computer so a friend re-installed windows XP. ever since my monitor 'thinks' it is wider and taller - it tries to fit the picture into wider and taller dimensions than the monitor. i.e. in order to see the entire picture i need to move the mouse to the side of the monitor and then the picture moves to the edges. how can i fix this?

Want to add 6th gear to vstar 1100

Your best option is to fit the rear wheel rim with a taller tire. If your stock tire is a 170/80-15 then try to locate a taller 170/90-15 tire or a 170/100-15 or a 180/80-50 or a 180/90-15. This will lower your RPM's in high gear. Caution make sure you have clearance for the taller/wider rear tire. If your have 2" all the way around the between the tire and the swing arm, this will be your easiest fix.

I was given a set of 215 70 R14 brand new tires and need to know if they will fit on a 1999 Dodge Caravan, the tires originally on it say 205 75 R14

Hi , tires recommended on that vehicle are 195/75R14 and 205/75R14. The tires you have are taller and wider than recommended. The taller may or may not rub fender wells going around corners, etc. The wider would be ok, but may not mount to your rims. Call a good tire shop and ask a mechanic there if it is feasable to use those tires on your existing rims. Mike

I use Microsoft XP and I use a 24" Samsung widescreen monitor. Is there any way I can get my programs to fill the screen without stretching and distorting. I have a friend who has a Dell widescreen...

Its probably your screen resolution, you probably want it set to something with a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio so 1280x768 or 1280x960 or if you are like me and like lots of real estate 1920x1200

I have a dell with windows vista. the monitor is 20 or 21 inches wide screen. I recently had a friend try to install windows xp but at the last attempt he tried to reformat my computer & install it xp...

You can adjust the screen resolution to increase the size of the image to fill the screen.
Go to the Control Panel - Display - Settings and adjust the screen resolution to 1280 X 1200 pixels. If this still doesn't fill the screen then increase it further say 1600 X 1200 pixels even higher if necessary.

My monitor requires a resolution of 1360 x 768 but I can't change it in Windows Xp eu but I could before with others versions of windows

The allowed resolution does not depend on the Operative windows used (XP,Vista, etc.) , but on the video adapter installed on the computer and on the video card driver.

If resolution 1360 x 768 was supported before on the SAME computer with a different system, then you may need to re-install the video card driver.

If resolution 1360 x 768 was not present before on same computer, then the display adapter installed on this computer may not support 1360 x 768.
Check specifications on Google, download updated display drivers, and if nothing works, then buy and fit inside the computer display adapter supporting 1360 x 768, like the one here: e-GeForce 7200 GS TC 128 MB PCI-e Graphics Card

My onscreen image is a bit taller than it is wide. A square shape would be taller. Can I get an update for my xp computer of a video card driver?. My Gateway fx530b was purchased Aug. 2007.

The problem is probably a setting with the Monitor itself. You can adjust the horizonal and vertical settings on the monitor itself. Sometimes it is accessed by a menu button on the monitor or by a knob.

Look around on the monitor and see if you can adjust it there!

Hannspree 19" Widescreen resolution available

I have the same problem. i downloaded a generic driver that allows 1600 X 900 resolution. this is better..things are taller rather than wider (with the 1280X1024 resolution). i dont understand why there isnt a 1440X900 driver available for XP systems.
