Remove any disk from the DVD drive.
Remove the hard drive and turn on. When you get to the dashboard turn it off again by holding the X button on the controller and select 'Turn off console'.
Wait 10 seconds and then turn on again by pushing the X button on the controller. When you get to the dashboard turn off again via the X button.
Remove the AV / Video plug from the back of your Xbox.
Replace the hard drive correctly.
Switch on the Xbox via the power button on the console. 4 red lights should flash.
Wait 10 seconds and re-insert the AV / Video cable.
You should now load into the dashboard with your hard drive profiles - wait theres more!
Turn off and on via the X button as before another 2 times with all leads and the hard drive in place.
After you power it off the second time, remove the power lead for 20 minutes and then turn on again any way you feel like it and it should be cured.

We have an error 68

Error 68 usually means that there is a hard drive failure.
  1. Try taking off the hard drive and starting the xbox.
  2. If the gray screen still comes up then it's a hardware failure in the xbox.
  3. You have 2 options, send it into microsoft or buy a new hard drive.

System error e 68

E 68 is a hard drive error, try removing the hard drive and turning the system on. If that works, turn off your system and reconnect the hard drive, then turn it back on, if it still works YAY!! If not, you may need a new hard drive....

I PUT A HARD DRIVE 20 GB AND THE CONSOLE TELL ME AN ERROR 68 WATH IS THAT

This means someone took another hard drive off of the console while it was updateing. The only way to keep it from saying that is to put the original hard drive back on that was on there when it was updateing. Ive experimented when I was selling them. And I pulled one hard drive off while it was updating and everytime I put a diffrent hard drive on it I would get that message. So I went throw like 4 hard drives before I found the actual one that was getting updated. After it updated I could put any hard drive back on it and it would work. Hope this helps..

One red ring, erra 68.

What you need to do is try using the console without the hard drive or with a different hard drive, one red ring means a hardware failure, and the error code e68 is in relation to the hard drive. If using the console with a different hard drive, or none at all doesnt work, ensure that the fans are working as they often also cause the e68 error and a single flashing red light.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

E 68

E68 means your hard drive is either not connected properly, or it has failed. Try removing the hard drive from the XBox and see if it boots OK.

If it does boot OK, try putting the hard drive back on and see if it boots.

If it does not boot, you need a new hard drive. But the XBox 360 itself should be OK. You can find a new hard drive at the following page:

How to fix e 68 problem what does it mean

E68 is an hard-drive error, take it off and see if it works without it, re-attatch and try again.
Or could be eepron error, remove anything plugged into the usb ports.
If that doesn't work, test the hard-drive on another console to see if its the hard-drive or the hard-drive connection.
If this helps, remember to thumbs up.

It reads error when i put my hard drive in

I'm guessing that the error your getting is E 68. E 68 means that there is a hardware malfunction somewhere inside the xbox 360 and if you only get this error while the hard drive is in then that means your hard drive is busted... Sorry but your going to have to buy a new hard drive or see if you can get it fixed. (But I highly doubt you can at a reasonable price.)

2o G hard drive is not working. srceen is showing E 68

This is a hard drive error code. It means that either the drive itself or your connection between the 360 and the drive have something wrong. Have you tried a friends hard drive to see if that one works? You may need a professional to look at your drive.

Red ring of death

i called microsoft, and they said that E 68 with one red flashing light means your hard drive is screwed up. Your 360 will work fine, but when u plug your hard drive in it wont work and youll get the E 68 error message. Call XBOX customer support, and they'll tell you to send it to them and they'll repair it for free. In the meanwhile, buy a memory card and keep playing. Your game saves and other stuff will be lost though. The hard drive takes 3-4 weeks to be repaired.

And no, you do not have to send the Hard drive with a reciept. When you call, they will give a reference number and you must include with the hard drive. They will explain everything when you call them.
