Question about HP Md5880n 58 in. HDTV
I'm trying to replace a shattered Color Wheel on a HP DLP model md5820n. I called HP for support, and they tried to sell me a modular screen assy. I told them if anything I need the light engine assy. I was told it was unavailable, but maybe I could try the screen assy. Might as well be talking to a rock.
I cant find any parts for this TV. Is it just a re-labled major brand? The only info about the color wheel that I have is a KYO label on the soldered on cable. Thanks in advance!
The part for the light engine is L1798-60003 I was unable to find a parts distrubutor for it but I think if you bug HP enough they will cave and send you one. I could not find a part number for the color wheel, sorry.

The HP md5820n, 5880n and the 6520n are manufactured in China by a company named Hysense (spelling?). HP no longer offers these sets and I imagine parts will become scarce. My lamp burned out in 13 months (one month out of warrenty and it cost me $427.00 to get a new on next day from HP. I will sell you my whole md5820 for $1411.26.

I did bug HP untill they finally transferred me to tech support. The color wheel is unavailable by itself. You can buy the light engine for $1411.26. I'm moving on now to figure out who actually made these light engines (coretronic?) and figure out a cross reference. I will post back when I get it figured out. On this color wheel one of the pieces of glass came unglued, shattered, and broke a couple other segments. I can't believe a company that big can't stock piece parts for at least a year or two.
