Question about Garmin StreetPilot C320 (010-00401-00) GPS Receiver

2 Answers

Dead Garmin My C320 won't turn on, or even say that it's charging when it is plugged in. It seems as though it is dead. Last time I used it, the batteries weren't even low, and I turned it off after using it... only to find out that it won't even turn on or charge the battery. Any way to fix this, or even reset it? Thanks!

Mine powered off on its own with plenty of battery left and would not come back on. Followed the advice of another post on Fix Ya and took the blue bezel (front cover) off and held the reset button for 5 seconds. It then power on fine when I pressed the power button.

I had the same problem - worked great for a year and yesterday was totally dead - not a hint of powering up.

I pulled the blue front "frame" off and held the reset button for about 5 seconds. It powered back up and works like a champ!

I put mine on the car charger overnight and it started responding again.

However it lost most of the maps I loaded and when I tried reloading, I got an error message. I sent it to Garmin and they said the install was corruped and gave me a procedure to clean my registry and files.

Instructions are slightly less complicated than learning to fly a 747. But what choice do I have?

Mine works when plugged in, but dead when not plugged. Found fuse, subtly hidden in lower part of AC power receptacle; pried out with small screw driver. Looked good & passed ohmmeter check. I loved the beast when it functioned. It spent a year in the garage; it didn't work when I brought it in. Charge light on for 8 seconds after plugging in, then off.

Disconnect from cigar lighter and connect to the USB port of your computer or any AC adapter over night. By morning the battery will have recharged and be ready for use. This seems to happen with the GPS is left connected to a vehicle's cigar lighter for an extended period of time. You can do this USB / AC adapter recharge procedure as often as needed.

I hope this helps!

Low battery, won't charge

connect the garmin to your computer using the usb port. It will start charging then. For some reason when the battery goes dead in this unit the only way to charge it is with computer. the car adaptor will not work once the battery gets real low.

My garmin 750 gps will not turn on when plugged into power source

A dead battery will cause the unit not to turn on, but it should turn on if connected to an external power source like an AC wall charger or DC car charger.

Dead unit

My Quest2 has a short in it that drains the battery even when it is turned off. But the battery lasts normal 15 to 20 hours when fully charged and unit is on. Whenever the battery is completely dead, I have to place it on the charger for a hour or two before the unit will even start even though it is plugged plugged in. The battery can be replaced by the staff at batteries plus for under $60.00

Abnormal Powerdown Error Code

Your battery is dead, which is causing the problem with "slow to receive satellites". Normally when you turn off the unit it will remember the last location and time, then the next time you start the unit it already has the time and current location to acquire satellites, but with a dead battery it has to start from scratch. Check the screen and see if it says "Locating Satellites" or "Acquiring Satellites". Locating satellites will take longer. Replace the battery and your problems should go away.
