My lenovo got a new harddrive and won't boot at all not even bios what to do? It's a g 560

You have to recover your MBR looks like, but first you need to remove the hard drive and see if it will boot without the HDD installed then get back to me ok. Also sounds like the BIOS may have failed if it wont boot without the HDD installed. But first things first.

Do I need a new hard drive for my acer d260?

It sounds more like you haven't installed ubuntu correctly. Why do you think the drive is faulty, was it giving drive errors before you loaded ubuntu? Does the bios have s.m.a.r.t. disk checking enabled?

If you can get back into ubuntu perhaps by booting off an ubuntu disk you can check the disk - here's how How to run checkdisk
If not take the drive out get a sata to usb converter and run a disk checking utility on a friends machine
for example chkdsk space diskletter colon space / f
chkdsk e: /f

My emachines laptop wont start.it says check cable connection..! insert boot disk??

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Bumped my Acer Aspire 5601AWLMi rather hard. Everything froze and after hard booting it will not come on.

Sounds like this is most likely a hard drive issue... You may have scratched your disks with the bump. When you boot up your computer, you should hear a beep - this is your POST (bios startup). If you hear this beep, but the computer does not boot any further, it is almost certainly a Hard drive issue. Some computers don't always play an audible 'beep' but if your computer shows the initial boot screen then goes black, or freezes up during the OS load, you can expect that you will need a new drive. If this is the case and you have experience in a fresh installation of an Operating System as well as experience in installing a hard disk drive into a laptop, then you can buy a new hard drive and DIY. If you do not have experience in these areas, I strongly suggest taking your computer to an expert to have it fixed.

If you don't hear the beep or the initial boot screen never displays, you may have a major issue with the motherboard itself. Either you have dislodged a necessary connection between components or you have broken a circuit. In this case, unless you are a seasoned hardware professional, I suggest bringing your computer to an expert to have it looked at.

Acer aspire 5517 is having problems loading the Operating system. when it try's to load it comes to a black screen that says that there is no bootable device connected. i restarted the computer and enabled...

have you tried looking for a windows label on the laptop that will tell you what version of windows is on it

The fact you are seeing two hard drives is probably because it is partitioned. The hard drive you tried to boot from to repair it , that is the system recovery partition the other partition is where your windows is installed

try pressing the ALT key & F10 together immediately after turning the laptop on

This should invoke the recovery partition to restore windows back to how you got it from the factory

NOTE THIS WILL DESTROY ALL DATA THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY ON THE COMPUTER

so anything on it will be wiped and it will be as you got it when it was purchased

If this helped you please vote for me

P.S. Other people please note how the poster explained there problem, in great detail and not just something like my laptop wont work

I bought a compaq laptop computer, when i turn it on it says, no bootable disk-- insert bootable disk and press any key.

You either have a failed hard drive or else a virus has corrupted the partition on the hard drive so it isnt found by windows. I am willing to bet that your hard drive had reached the end of its life. If this is the case you can get a new one and have your operating system re-installed by a friend or family member that is comfortable in doing so. Loading the operating system isnt that difficult with the correct CD's. If you have Vista or Windows 7 then most of the drivers will install automatically. If you have XP then that is a bit more involved as you will have to install most of the drivers that are required.

My computer wont boot up.

depends what the error is. I don't know why people never include them in the problem statement, it would make things easier.

Usually there is a cover with a single or two screws where your hard drive is installed. You can remove the cover, take out the one or two holding screws for your hard drive "slide" it out, and then push it back in and reseat it if you think that is the problem. Do you hear the system fan? Do you hear the hard drive running? What does the bios message say while it is booting (the white letters before windows loads) If it goes by too fast you can pause it so you can read it....Try going into setup when it boots and see if your bios has a hard drive test. Laptop hard drives do go out...some of them right away. They are very sensitive to heat (don't run laptop on top of a bed, blanket, pillow, or any other such thing that prevents ventilation) and vibrations and bumps and such that may occur while running. If any of this has happended, it's possible the hard drive has become damaged. Only way to tell is to test it somehow...either in bios, or on another machine.

PXE-E61: media test failure check cable

The PXE-X61 error means that the laptop cannot detect the hard drive. This can be caused by a faulty disk controller, or a faulty disk drive.
1st. Reseat the hard drive and see if the laptop boots up.

2nd. Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.

3rd. If the BIOS can't detect the hard disk, the remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer detects this drive as an external disk drive and you can see the contents of the hard drive, then the hard drive is OK and the fault is in the laptop.

4th. If the hard drive cannot be detected then the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace the faulty hard drive in your laptop and install Windows to get an operating laptop again.
