EDA shuts off. EDA is inactive. The EDA turns off after a period of inactivity. If the EDA is running
on battery power, set this period from 1 to 5 minutes, in
one-minute intervals. If the EDA is running on external power, set
    this period to 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes.
Check the Power window by selecting Start > Settings > System
tab and tapping the Power icon. Select the Advanced tab and
change the setting for a longer delay before the automatic shutoff
    feature activates.
    Battery is not
    inserted properly.
Insert the battery properly. See Installing and Removing the Main
    Battery on page 1-3.
Battery is depleted. Replace the battery.

    Resetting the EDA
There are two reset functions, warm boot and cold boot. A warm boot restarts the EDA by closing all running
programs. A cold boot also restarts the EDA, and also resets the clock. Data saved in flash memory or a memory
    card is not lost.
Perform a warm boot first. If the EDA still does not respond, perform a cold boot.
    Performing a Warm Boot
Hold down the Power button for approximately five seconds. As soon as the EDA starts to perform a warm boot
    release the Power button.
    Performing a Cold Boot
    To perform a cold boot:
    1. Simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys.
    2. The EDA initializes.

  • KISHMA FOY Apr 24, 2008

    Performing a Clean Boot
A clean boot resets the EDA to the factory default settings. All data is the Application folder is retained. You must
download the Clean Boot Package file from the Support Central and install on the EDA.
NOTE When the EDA powers up after inserting a battery for the first time, the device boots and powers on
    automatically.
CAUTION A clean boot should only be performed by an authorized system administrator. You must connect the EDA
to AC power during a clean boot.
Removing AC power from the EDA during a clean boot may render the EDA inoperable.
A clean boot resets the EDA to the factory default settings. All data is the Application folder is retained. You must
download the Clean Boot Package file from the Support Central and install on the EDA.

  • KISHMA FOY Apr 24, 2008

    To perform a clean boot:
    1. Download the Clean Boot Package from the Support Central web site. Follow the instructions included in the
package for installing the package onto the EDA.
    2. Simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys.
    3. Immediately, as soon as the device starts to boot and before the splash screen is visible, press and hold the
left scan button for a few seconds.
    4. Insert the EDA into a powered cradle.
    5. The EDA updates and then re-boots.
    6. Calibrate the screen.

Perpetual loading, extremely slow. Symbol MC70 Scanner

To get the device back to factory settings is the cold boot not enough. You would need to download the clean boot files from suport.symbol.com, the files for Windws Mobile 5 unit are located here http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=ReleaseNotesforMC70XXCleanBootFileshtm&sliceId=&dialogID=191034578&stateId=1%200%20191036040
The instrictions are provided in the zip file.

M7094 Warm Boot Error

Go to devzone.symbol.com, then click on the "Click here to enter Support Central" link. From there enter "clean boot" in the search box and select "Mobile Computers" in the Product Line drop-down and MC70 in the Product drop-down. Then click "Go". When the results are displayed, choose to sort by "Most recent" instead of "Most relevant". Then the first entry will be the clean boot files for if your device is running WM 6.1, and the one that's about 5 entries down will be the clean boot files for if your device is running WM 5.0.

How to reset MC70 using touch screen

No,
Not using the touch screen.
But you can reboot from the POWER Button
By holding it in for 5 Secounds, ( this is a warm reboot)
By holding the power button plus the 1and the 9 buttonat the same time is a cold boot. This is a better way...
Hope this helps you!!!

Questions:

Have you tried the classic "hard boot"?

Do you have a WAN or LAN radio configuration?
Has the device worked for you in the past ... and no will not?

Until you answer my questions and I get back to you you might try pulling the battery out for 10 min or so... see if it reboots when you reinstall it

Make that 81! There are days when the divice works like a dream. Then most of the time I just want to chuck the damned Symbol out of a moving van! I am tired of having to warm boot it every ten minutes because "the operation failed". The modem constantly locks up, and there is nothing you can do to debug it except warm boot it and wait ten minutes.
