Look for the reset button on the Unit and do a master reset, and you should be able to charge the unit and do a connection to the computer.

See if they are in the MUSIC folder on your walkman on the computer when you have it connected.

Hi nicholasharp...

You did not say which model you had so I copied what I could find in manuals for Technika MP3 Players. I am sure you will find the user manual to explain when your MP3 player is fully charged.
I will also include the generic way to hook up and download songs to your MP3 player.
Go to the webpages below and download your User Manual and Quick Guide.

3...Open Media Player on your computer.
4...Install all your music into Media Player that you want to install on your MP3 player.

6...Media player should recognize the MP3 player and sync with it.
7...After it is sync'ed with the computer, you can add the music you have installed into Windows Media Player to your MP3 Player.

Sync problems

these cheaper mp3 players dont usually need software to upload songs. normally all you have to do is plug your player into an ACTIVE USB connection. windows should let you know that there is a removable storage device connected depending on your autoplay settings when you connect your player to your computer. a box MIGHT pop up and prompt you to either play files or open a folder etc. if it doesn't look in the bottom right and corner of your screen you should see a safely remove hardware icon there by the time/clock. if you dont the your mp3 play is not being recognized and you might have to try another USB slot. you can also try to go to my computer and check to see if your device is listed as a drive. you should see it listed as removable disc (Drive letter). you double click of the drive letter to open your device folder then you just simply drag and drop the music you want to hear in that folder. depending on how new your computer is and how fast your USB connection each file could take anywhere from 1 second - 2 minutes so be patient.

Won't play music I copied-Coby c-582

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

I'd like you to try something so that we can see if there is something wrong with your player. First, I'd like you to format your player. This will wipe it clean of any files that are on it. To format, follow these steps:

Step 1

Connect the unit to your computer via the USB port.
Step 2

Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop, or, click your start button and choose My computer from the right side of the start menu.

Step 3

Right-click the icon for the Coby player.

Step 4

Choose Format from the menu that appears, and choose quick format after that.

Step 5

You'll see a warning that formatting will erase all data on the drive. Click OK.

After this has been done, go to the MY MUSIC folder that is found by clicking MY DOCUMENTS on the start menu. Open the folder labeled sample music and copy and paste one of those songs into the player. Then disconnect the player and see if that one song will play.

If you're able to load a sample song as described above and it doesn't play on the player, unfortunately this would mean the unit is defective and needs to be replaced. It can not be fixed. The warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. You will need a receipt for warranty exchange.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

Can't delete songs from coby mp-c827 player

Use Windows Media Player:
The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

My 2 Gb ilo won't play my music

There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

I have been able to sync mine, though it wouldn't transfer some songs. It would sit there trying to convert it but wouldn't. So I tried the alternate way to get them on. I just did a drag and drop and all the songs played fine. I just had to be sure to hold the play/hold/stop button for about six seconds before it would turn on.
BTW all of the songs including the ones windows wanted to convert played fine this way.
