80 GB Laptop 5400 HD

This drive CONTINUES to be extremely busy upon EVERY reboot or whenever I need to use any software on the drive it seems to all of a sudden get REAL busy. 85-100% in task manager and I went through and kill as many services I could. I am TRYING to uninstall some rss news reader s/w and some others I no longer need but CANNOT open the add/remove panel. It opens but never populates! I would try a Housecall scan but can't get there! Done MANY cold boots and even tried Safe w/wo networking to no avail. Is it H/W or a freekin bug!?
Tx a bunch IA

have your hard drive tested for errors you may use HD-tune for your own testing, if it pass the test, you may need to replace your laptop hard drive interface assembly or check your ddr memory for defects also..

Its on the base of the laptop, under a removable cover,
Your support page states........
In the product specs for the nc6400 it only stats that following disks Seriell ATA 60, 80, 100 GB (5400 rpm) & 80, 100 GB (7200 rpm) are compatable

Dependiing on your Windows type, you may need to load drivers from a floppy drive to get the Drive recognised. This may be needed for windows XP

HD laptop Dell ispiron 2200

You have to look for a ATA-6 5400 RPM hard drive.
e.g. you could use the Western Digital Scorpio 160 Gb

If you need more help, just post some info back.
