Your PC is now installed with Intel Celeron 700 MHz (socket 370), which is maximum suggested by HP. Instead you'd better upgrade memory up to 512MB.

HP Pavilion a6532f Desktop PC cuts off without warning

These symptoms are typical of a system that is overheating. Check that air is flowing freely over the memory and CPU.

1 is the system dust-free (if not **** out the excess with a vacuum cleaner nozzle, then blow out the rest)
2 check that the CPU fan is revolving properly and is noise free)
3 check that any case fans are operational
4 check the power supply fan is exhausting air

HP Pavilion A200n (DF209A#ABA) PC Desktop best upgrades

Your motherboard is limited by it's 400 fsb. The fastest CPU that will work in it is a 2.8Ghz 400fsb northwood chip. You can upgrade the memory to 1GB of pc2100 ddr ram. As for changing out the motherboard, don't do it. The front panel connections will likely never correct correctly with a new motherboard.

Please describe the cmos battery location on hp pavilion 6745c desktop and how to replace it. thank you.

On the mainboard you will see a big silver 3v button cell. this is the BIOS/CMOS battery. It is held down by a clip, using a screwdriver pull it back and then use your finger to pop it out. Replace it with the same size and voltage button cell.

Thanking you

HP a305w

I am comming into the middel of this.
But if you have a Bad Cap on the motherboard, eiather blown or crowned, forget replacing the CPU.
Eiather replace the cap or the motherboard.
You will be just waisting money on replacing the CPU.
P.S. if you have 1 bad cap on the board, you have atleast 2 or 3 others that should be changed as well.
Most of the caps on the board somewhat run in series.
Good luck.

Want to increase the speed of my pc

Hello alanwemple,

Increasing the RAM is surely a good first step to speeding your computer up some. It was my impression that the a340n supports a total of 4GB, so you might want to recheck your manual. And 4GB would certainly be better than 2. As for the CPU, it's upgradeable on this machine, it uses a "Socket 478" chip. Simply remove the old one and insert a new one. But, the CPU is probably not contributing that much to your slowness problem.

Two things that I'd look at first, before I tackled the CPU is video performance and the hard drive. A faster video card with more video RAM can substantially speed things up. And, the hard drive may need some maintenance, starting with defrag. You may also want to do a disk cleanup and while you are at it, run a full virus check and malware detection program such as MacAfee or Norton to make absolutely sure that no bad stuff is slowing you down. And these are cheaper than replacing the CPU.

Hope this helps.

Hello, I have an HP Pavilion Slimline windows Vista and the fan won't stop running. Is this okay? It is not hot where the pc is sitting so I don't know if it's stuck or whats going on with it Any...

Good news! You don't want the fan to stop running. There are 2 in there most likely- one for the power supply and one for the CPU. Both run continuously to keep the innards at a safe operating temperature. If you want to keep an eye on the temperatures, I use SpeedFan and it'll keep a temperature in the lower right for you to watch.

Upgrade cpu on pavilion 6630

i am suggesting you the solution keeping in mind that there is no display is on the monitor.
The max ram that HP Pavilion 6630 PC Desktop can support is 256 mb pc 100 or pc 133mhz.
check if you have installed that amount of ram, if thats correct then check if any continues beep sound is coming out of CPU.

if there is beep try to change the ram slot.the more possibilty i either the new ram is faulty or incompatibel.

try to install the old ram see if it works. if still no display.

install old cpu and heat sink.see what happen ..

then let me know the result.

bye & take care..
