Question about Samsung SyncMaster 204B 20.1" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Ghosting The image on my LCD has begun to show a horizontal ghosting effect that extends an inch or so to the right of the image. Sometimes it goes away if I shut it off and then on again...the LCD is about 14 months old.

I did fool around with resolution and refresh rates, but already had the settings at native res and ref.

Then I checked Samsung's support page, and ran the tests and made the adjustments they suggested. It worked.

One adjustment was to simply press the "adjust" button on the monitor frame, which seems to have helped.

Does the monitor do this on all resolutions?

Try changing the refresh rate on the monitor's properties page and see if the effect changes at all.

Why am I getting ghosting on my monitor screen

It can be caused by several things, so eliminate the least costly first. If you have added a new peripheral to the PC or other electronic device near by, at about the same time the ghosting started, turn the device off and see if the ghosting goes away. If that is not the trouble try moving your monitor to the extreme right or left side and see if that effects the ghosting. Next try running the internal test on your video card. Next look at your settings in the control panel and set the options to default. If it is still ghosting try reloading the driver. Since you didn't give the make and model of the monitor or PC that is about all I can tell you.

Sony bravia 52 kdl xbr ghosting

Michael, does the ghosting go away of you tap the set? Or if you turn off the set and let it cool off and turn it back on, is the ghosting still here? One of the most common causes of ghosting or double image problem is due to a defective LCD panel tab. Sony's are known for this problem. I would recommend getting a diagnoses done on the set to be sure. If it turns out to be a LCD tab problem, the only true fix is to replace the panel.

Ghosting on one side of screen on start up, then goes away

The T-con board failure or LVDS cable connection loose may cause the problem, you can try to reconnect the LVDS cable first.

Westinghouse LCM-22W2 has "ghosting"

Usually, LCD monitor ghosting appears when the cable isn't tight, the cable is faulty, or low quality. The cable should be less than 8-10 feet long. Try using a different monitor cable (they're mostly interchangable) and see if the problem goes away. I'd put my money on the cable or a loose cable connection.
