Keyboard not functioning properly - ple'se ple'se help

Ok, there is something very wrong with my keyboard. I use XP and I have a Dell Dimension 1100 comp. I honestly don't know anything about computers. So here's what's going on. I use the interntional keyboard and I think it has messed up my computer. I have had to copy and paste every single 'a' in this message because every time I push the 'a' this (dfjkl
321|:AS) comes up. Everytime I push the tab button it shuts of my computer. The 'Q' (also cut and pasted this letter) when pushed does this (eruio+987pqw) and brings up outlook express. and the exclaimation mark is messed up also. I was told it was because I have used the international keybord. PLEaSE PLEaSE help me (I would use explntion mrks but I cn't)

BTW please take it easy on me with the lingo, I need it explained in laymon terms.....OMG you will never know how many words have an 'a' in them until this happens to your keyboard 'nd have to do the control + 'v' function to paste them

My keyboard will not work at all sometimes on bootup. It is an intermittent problem. Today I had to shut the computer down and boot it up 4 times before the keyboard would work so that I could type in this message. Any suggestions to the solution would be appreciated. (I have a Dell Dimension 1100/B110.) Thanks!

First, we must find out if either its your keyboard that's busted or it has something to do with windows. If you can get hold of another keyboard, shut off the computer, switch keyboard, then power up the computer then see what happens. If it still does the same thing, try to do a system restore, click start>All Programs>Accessories folder>System Tools> then click system restore. Click next on the first system restore page> then choose a BOLD date that you're sure that the keyboard is still working fine. Click next, then click next again. Just just let go, the computer will automatically restart. At the end of the system restoration process a pop up will appear when you get to the desktop screen. Just click next. Test your keyboard. If it still does not work. Back your data then reinstall windows. You can also do PC restore if your computer has the capability to do PC Restore by restaring computer, on the dell logo screen(this screen appeaRS A FEW SECONDS AFTER TURNING ON THE COMPUTER)hold down CTRL key on KBoard while tapping F11. just follow the instructions given by the Symantec program.

LG Keybo2 Will not stay turned off, have removed battery to try and reset but when I put battery in, just reboots, hold down the OFF button, turns off but then immediatly reboots and turns back on

F keys don't work on reboot. Work on Power on boot.

When powering on the F2 key will get me to Bios Setup, F8 key will get me to Safe Mode, and F12 key will let me change Boot Device. Everything is normal when up on XP operating system. If I reboot, None of the mentioned function keys work. Instead I get a message of a "Keyboard Failure", but system will come up OK. But, on the reboot, I want to use one of those function keys.

When you move and place a new keyboard same brand on your computer what is wrong with keyboard when you cant get it to come on it says keyboard error and the light doesnt come on to tell you the keyboard...

Try the new keyboard in a different computer, to see if the new keyboard is defective.

Try the old keyboard (or a different one) in your computer, to see if the keyboard-port is still functioning correctly.

My dell dimension xps 400 does not detect mouseand keyboard

Hi, these instructions will help you, and "everything that you do for the Keyboard; apply the same instruction to the Mouse." First, click on the "Start" button, in the ["Start Search Window], Type: keyboard; the "Keyboard" Properties window will open. You can (Test) to see exactly how your keyboard is responding. If you are still having the same problem, (check, the Keyboard Status). "Update the Drivers," by clicking on the "Properties" button. Now in the event that neither of these solutions solve the problem, which I hope you shouldn't have to do anymore; "Uninstall the Keyboard. To "Uninstall the "Keyboard," do the following: Shut-down (turn- off completely); disconnect all the Keyboard Devices that are connected to the Computer. Next, turn-on the Computer, and go back to the "Keyboard Properties," next, click on the "Change Settings" button, next click on the "Driver" button, and select the "Uninstall" button. Once that is finished, shut-down the Computer again. Now you want to "Reconnect" all the devices that were connected before, and "Turn-on" the Computer. "You will repeat exactly what you did from the start, this will "Re-install the Keyboard. "Restart the Computer again after all changes have been made; this will ensure the changes take effect properly. "Rating the solution will let me know if it worked; or you may need further assistance, thanks."

F keys don't work on reboot. Work on Power on boot.

Turn your computer off.
Temporarily replace your keyboard/mouse with "generic" units.
Turn your computer on.
Check that the F-keys work.
Restart.
Now, do the F-keys work correctly?
Or, do you still get "keyboard failure"?

more info would be beneficial in diagnosing exactly whats wrong.. but try to rule out a few obvious things first. try disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard and make sure it is properly seated in the usb/ps2 port. download spybot S&D and scan your computer to remove any keyloggers/trojans/malware that may be hogging your cpu and thus bogging down the Input from your keyboard.

1 USB Port Failure

Hi Guys

Unfortunately after looking at the computer installation details i was at fault, although i have had
the computer for well over 2 years and this is the first time it has happened.
My Dell Dimension 5150 has 7 USB ports 5 at the back and 2 in the front and it appears that i have
connected the keyboard and mouse to the wrong ports.
There are two ports at the bottom allocated for the keyboard and mouse and for some reason i had
them in the top three ports hence my problem but still not sure why it happened.
Anyway my Dell Dimension 5150 is now running OK and no further help is needed.

Many Thanks.
