I have letters shadowing red on top of green, also in the middle of the screen from left middle then curving down to the right of the screen looks like a almost transparent blue twisted ribbon. looks like the words that are on the tv is twisted up in it it as well. but when the movie has dark colors the ribbon seems to disappear where it is dark and ever present when the screen is light. how ever the picture on the tv is good. And yes the remote is gone in the move.

You need to use the convergence feature for your set. What this is is having the three color guns aligned properly, There is hopefully an automatic adjustment on your set-up menu, if not adjustments for each seperate gun. Basically you adjust the lines of the adjustment screen so the line turns black and white. You can easily see what needs it.

If this needs to be done manually, it is a chore. Contact me for directions how to do this. It is best left to a pro but this can get costly and wouldn't hurt if you tried yourself as if someone comes in, the cost would be the same whether it is out slightly or severely.

My Hitachi TV Model #51F500 is showing shadows and double lettering (in other words a terrible picture). Please help.

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Samsung HCN4727W Rear Projection TV, green screen, audio works

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Double picture

The convergence output IC's need to be replaced. This is a very common problem with all projection tv's. Depending on where you live the repair cost is usually around $200 to $300 and can be done in the home.

Zenith HDTV 52" double image shadowing all letters

Bad chipset. Possibly a failed solderpiont. More than likely a bad chip. If the set is relatively new, get it repaired, shouldn't be too expensive. Figure 200 or so.

Blue shadows on my philips projection tv

You have possibly contaminated fluid in your blue picture tube if it has a hazy look.Blacks and whites look bluish and whites have a blue bloom to them. The other problem could be bad convergence amps. This would be double image around letters on the screen.

Good Day, sh28;
Sounds like bad convergence IC’s, chips. Hit recommends using STK392-150’s and replacing the bias resistors.
Good Luck, Big Irish.

Unplug the TV from the ac wall outlet for about 4 minutes then plug it back in and turn it on. If it still has a double image then tell me if it's affecting the menu screen from the TV (not the cable menu). And is the double image in red and blue?
