Same problem with Kenmore (GE) Refrigerator 363.59577994.

I believe the problem is the Motor Crusher Dispensor Part No: WR60X0202. (about $120).  When I press the pad
actuator I can hear the motor activate but it does not rotate.  I can hand turn the motor
counter-clockwise but cannot turn it clockwise.

Recommend verifying this before making purchase.
    Hope this helps.

Have a Kenmore Coldspot Model 106.56713500. Ice maker works fine, but the dispenser makes a sound for 1-2 seconds then stops and won't dispense or make any more sounds. Smelled something burning.

This unit has a motorized doorway for the icemaker so you are most likely hearing the door opening up. If you remove the ice bucket and put a piece of tape on the light switch you can have the door open and see what is happening.

Reach your arm around and hit the ice lever while looking down the chute and the door should open (about 2 seconds from the time you push the ice dispenser button) and right after it is open then the dispenser control board will start turning the auger.

Smelling something burning is never good!! And unfortunately, the board is usually what cooks on these part# WP2252174 @ 193.26 from sears. Sometimes the motor itself shorts and takes the board with it and that part# WP2252130 @ 122.52 from sears although in all of the auger motors I've changed, none have smelled like it burned but probably 90% of the control boards have.

Can it be fixed? I'm sure but the parts alone can hit 400$ so you have to ask if it is worth it? If it still makes ice then just reach inside, save 400 and put it in a drawer for a new fridge when that one breaks.

Putting the icemaker back in the freezer after fixing a defrosting problem. How do you install the auger?

Based on GE, it probably goes into the front dispenser area of the Ice drawer first, and "should" drop in. Try to line up the Auger drive section in the Ice drawer with the Drive fork of the motor. You may need to allow the drive to run while you carefully allow the Ice drawer to move into the right position to allow Drawer to move into rearmost position.

I have a side by side Whirlpool refrigerator that will not dispense ice. Ice maker working fine, just will not dispense. We did check the micro switch and it is working. No sound coming from ice maker...

when u trip sw to dispense motor must run - so does proper voltage appear at motor connector tabs? If not, follow it back to the voltage source. If so, does motor turn when not connected to mechanism? If not, the motor is defective. If so, is the mechanism from the motor to the auger free to turn. IE can u turn the auger from the motor connection?

Why won't ice dispense from ice maker?

Pull out the ice storage bin from the refrigerator. Empty the bin if it is full. Add some ice into the bin. Reinstall bin into refrigerator. Make sure the refrigerator door(s) are closed. The ice will not dispense if the door(s) are open. Press the ice dispenser with a glass underneath it to start dispensing ice. Listen for a whirring sound. If there is a sound, then the auger that moves the ice cubes is working. Check the ice shoot in the door to see if it is blocked with ice. If you don't here any whirring sound the motor that runs the auger is probably bad. Then you will have to replace the whole ice maker assembly.

Makes ice fine but ice doesn't come out of dispenser or make noise trying to intermittently.

Hello there,
When there is a problem with the motor that opens and closes the dispenser is when you will be experiencing such problem as having the ice maker making ice but not dispensing them
Most likely frozen up auger motor. Try removing the auger motor and thawing it to see if it will then run.Your auger motor may be frozen, use a hair dryer on it and see if it starts turning again.
The best, if not easiest way to access the auger motor is pull it out. It's just four screws, two on each side of the fork assembly. The white plate and auger motor will come out together. There is a quick disconnect for the wires.there are boot kits to install over the motors to prevent this or just put it into a plastic zip lock bag with the shaft poking thru a hole in the front.
Hope this helped. All the best Elect_Comp

My ice maker makes ice but will not dispense it

When you push the lever to dispense ice, can you hear the motor running? If not, that motor might be dead and not turning the auger, which would be your problem.

If you can hear the motor and auger turning, the chute or the opening in the ice maker might be clogged up with ice. Clean the entrance to the ice maker and the chute in the freezer door and that should fix your problem.

The flexible arm is the on off switch to the timer. And the timer is in the ice maker itself. Make sure that arm is in the correct position.

Ice maker makes ice but can't dispense ice

Please try this. Remove your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly which is where the Auger (corkscrew) is located. You should be able to see the Auger Motor Drive Fork which is located permanently inside the freezer compartment... opposite the end of the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly that you just took out. Close the freezer door and attempt to dispense ice... if you can hear the Auger Motor running as you attempt to dispense ice... then the Auger Motor is OK. Dump out all the ice that is in your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and wash it out in your kitchen sink with warm water. Reach into your freezer and put your hand on the Auger Motor Drive Fork ... you should be able to rotate it CW or is a little hard to turn but it will turn. Position the Auger Motor Fork to a 12:00 and 6:00 o'clock position. Now take your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and position its Receiver Auger Fork to a 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock ....Re install the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly into the Auger Drive Fork. Close the freezer door and again attempt operate the ice dispenser... you should hear the Auger Motor again run as you press the ice dispenser. this same time the Ice Chute Door in the Freezer Door should spring open so that ice can fall out. Of course you have no ice in the Auger at this time...but it all this works then future production of ice will fall out. Note...Usually the Auger Motor never fails. but the whole thing can get jammed with ice and not dispense. Also, the the solenoid that operates the Ice Chute Door fails quite frequently. Last but not least... if nothing is happening... it is a control board type problem. Hopes this helps! Handy Henry

Ice maker will not dispense the ice

The auger motor and coupling in the rear may be frozen and won't turn.
Remove the ice bin.
Place a screwdriver or similar device in the forks of the auger and twist counterclockwise till it moves. The replace the ice bin and try again.
It will be difficult to move.
If that does not work. Turn off the fridge and use a hair dryer to hrat the auger gear and motor till it frees up.
