Did you remove the tape on the bottom of the ink cartridge? If you did, remove the cartridge a double check under good lighting. It is not uncommon for the tape to tear, leaving a small piece which interferes with the printing. Another thing to consideris how long the printer sat with no ink cartridge. Over time the print head nozzel can become clogged with dried ink. If that happens you can either replace the print head, (which will cost almost as much as a new printer) or buy a print head cleaner and do it yourself. Head cleaning kits are available on the internet for about $10 and usually fix the problem.

I only have black ink and the printer won't work. i don't want to replace the colored ink and the printer keeps asking to replace ink

No the printer cant operate if there is a cartridge missing or empty.
Q: Can the printer still print if an ink cartridge is expended or not installed? A: No. The printer will not operate if any cartridge is expended or removed. It’s best to always have extra cartridges on hand

Wont print

what are you trying to print in black? the best way to test out a black ink is to open word pad and type some thing random and print it and see if that works. if you have a all in one printer u might have 2 inks one color and one black in the printer

My printer wont print in color & its a new color ink cartridge

have the printer preferences been changed accidentally to print in greyscale? Is the cartridge installed correctly? Now and again if the cartridges are opened and not installed straight away the ink dries up in the nossel and clogs the printer head, easily rectified with some cleaning solution. Cartridges also go out of date. hope this helped

How to install hp 21 cartridge into dell 926 printer

Use only genuine cartridges with your printer. Printers these days have a built in sensor that can sense non compatible/generic/refilled cartridges and wont install them. It will only cause you more problems in the long run if you use a generic cartridges.

Best bet is to buy genuine inks..
