Sounds like either a week server provided by EA (the ones that update and control the online network) or you have a week internet signal. If your using wireless that would probably be the biggest issue. Hope I helped.
Well depends on what games your playing you should upgrade to a PS3 or a Xbox 360 but PS3 is a cheaper buy, trust me you pay alot more for a Xbox then a PS3. Many reasons why your getting dropped your internet connection for your PS2 may not be good, EA servers for PS2s generally dont use many resources so it could be just the Servers. EA likes to focus on Computer games and other systems PS2 is dead now. You should upgrade.
I need some info about your internet connection, First are you using wifi or are you plugged into the modem. If you're using wifi do you have any cordless phones in your house or apt. Apartment would be worse in this case because someone might have a phone that interferes with your wifi connection.I believe the PS3 wifi is disrupted by phones 5.8hz and lower. So you could be playing a game a phone call comes in and someone picks up the phone guess what you're going to get disconnected. If you're wired up to the modem then either your ISP or the EA server is experiencing problems.
Sorry to tell you this but EA is starting what a lot of other game publishers are going to start doing. They are stopping their support for PlayStation 2 since it is a last generation console. Now a days its all about the X-box 360 and play station 3. They are just not funding the servers for the last generation console and soon other will follow untill the playstaion 2 is no more.
I had the same problem where I'm logged into XBox Live and I couldn't get into the EA servers to play any EA games. This is what worked for me:
1. Hit the XBox button and Log out of XBox live. 2. Go to the Settings tab and select System Settings. 3. Choose Console Settings then Clock. 4. Choose Daylight Savings and set this to OFF and back out. 5. Log back into XBox Live and the time will be set automatically. 6. Start you EA Game and Have Fun!!!
