Printing text documents with redlined edits. Red text prints as orange. Have aligned the cartridges, calibrated the color, printed a new doc with red and other colors (others print fine), and replaced a low black toner cartridge with no change in output. Any suggestions would be most helpful! Thanks.
If this is magenta being weak (light) on all the things you print (try doing a test pritn, and a configuration page from the printers own menu system). this will be the dirty laser lens/mirrors problem that is very common with this printer.
Solution is either
Dismantle (it IS quite a lot of work, but fairly straightforward methodical screwdriver work) the printer to remove the laser unit. Take cover off the laser unit and CAREFULLY clean the lenses and mirrors. NOTE take care not to disturb the alignment of any part of the laser optics, and be especially careful with the mirrors as they are surface silvered and V easily scratched.
You can find NEW laser units on a certain internet auction site, and also (genuinely) refurbished exchange printers. Both of these two opttions will obviously save time and effort, but be more expensive.

Dirty mirrors will gives you dull color images..It seems color combination faulty..
chk original cartridges installed? or refilled cartridges?
Take supply status page..
chk colors..If color is dull(light) clean laser scanner assembly mirrors.
Do the color calibration..
chk drivers.,
Print from other file..
Before processing the elighment, ensure that all cartridges are genuine one. In printer menu >go to 'system setup' enter>"printing quality" enter > "calibrate color"..enter... after completion of the calibration check the quality of print..
You can bypass the alignment on 5610 by pressing ok to start alignment and then cancel after that check by printing a document if your cartridges work fine if not you can refill them with this easy and cheaper method
click on the alignment button and have the machine automatically start the realignment process
it is not color realignment but printer head alignment that is the problem
Make sure it's the right ink cartridge for that model printer.
Check if any of the colors is out
Try running a calibration on the printer to make sure heads are lined up properly.
The BJC 3000 will flash two different colored lights in a pattern to signal several different errors. From the documentation I have the two colors are orange and green, could those be the colors you see?
At any rate here is the code:
Two orange flashes: Out of paper, paper jam, or paper feed error. If no paper is loaded in the auto sheet feeder, or if the paper is not loaded correctly, set the paper correctly and press the Resume button on the printer to continue printing.
Three orange flashes: Paper jam. If paper has jammed in the printer, carefully remove the jam and press the Resume button to continue printing.
Four orange flashes: A tank inside the BJ cartridge (print head) is out of ink. Replace the empty BJ tank and press the Resume button to continue printing.
Five orange flashes: BJ cartridge is not installed properly. Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely.
Six orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is not installed. Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely.
Seven orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is defective. Remove the BJ cartridge and check that the contacts on the cartridge and cartridge holder are clean. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed and reinstall the cartridge. If the error occurs again after you resume operation, you may need to replace the BJ cartridge.
Eight orange flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full. The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink that is consumed during print head cleaning. This error indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the Resume button to skip the error so you can continue printing.
The POWER light flashes orange and green alternately: Service error. A service error means the printer requires the attention of a qualified technician.
