I bought a LG FB44 Sound-Wing micro system and my 2nd generation iPod Touch will not work via the iPod dock. An older iPod nano does work - I am using the latest iTunes software on my Touch. 'Error' comes up on the screen of the FB44 when it tries to read my Touch.
I found that if you really push down hard with the iPod onto the connection it works!I found that if you really push down hard with the iPod onto the connection it works!

It will actually work, however,
you will not be able to dock the iPod® Nano into the JBL On Stage™.
You can connect the audio in cable to the headphone jack of your iPod. That's the only way, hope this helps. Pls rate solution. Thanks!!

Details:
Apple reports that this model provides "USB through
dock connector."
Maybe this could be the solution... Source: http://www.speakerstation.co.uk/ipod-speaker-docks-ct-87.html "... Important Note: iPods released since Sept 2008 (e.g.
Touch 2nd Gen, 4th Gen iPod Nano and iPod Classic 120 Gigabyte, iPhone
3g and onwards) have an updated dock connector that means older
revisions of speaker dock may not be able to charge these newer models
of iPod/iPhone. Older docks should play music from these newer models
with no problem. The problem with charging is due to Apple
removing support for 12v (firewire) charging on these new models of
iPod/iPhone. Only 5v (USB) charging is supported on these new models. ..."
Usually, that will happen if the ipod is not compatible w/ the docking station. Try to connect the ipod to a different docking station to check if it will gonna do the same thing...
The original SoundDock will not charge the iPod touch 2nd gen, or the iPhone 3G, or the new nano either. This is because Apple changed the way their new iPod products charge. (via USB only now)
There is 1 solution- Call Bose tech support. They can replace the 30 pin metal connector for a new one that will charge this. If this is not under warranty, it will cost $99, but it's worth it. New 1 year warranty, and compatibility with all iPods (except much older- non-clickwheel iPods)
The older ipods charge using 12v, the newer ones (including the Touch 2nd gen) use 5v. So a lot of docks that will charge a nano will not charge a new Touch. If a dock says it will work with the iPhone then it will work with the newer iPod Touch (2nd gen). If you have an old dock and want to charge a new Touch (sounds like the case here) then you can get an adapter. Scosche makes one just for this.
I have had exactly the same problem having bought a JBL Radial Micro for my partner for Xmas for use with the Ipod Nano, i contacted JBL via their website and was advised to contact Harmen on 01707278100. I was advised that the new ipod nano (chromatic) would not charge on the JBL radial micro. They stated that this was due to Apple changing the charging pin in the new nano. I have since bought a JBL Stage III. I contacted Harmen before buying this and was advised that the Stage II would not work. Hope that this is of use.
