Question about Sentry Fireproof Safe

1 Answer

I can't lock my safe. The door handle won't go into the horizontal position even when you depress the keylock. Any other suggestions?

I have the same problem. The new sentry safe was open when I took it out of the box and have not been able to lock it even though I've followed the directions in the manual and in the video.

Do you have a service center in Mindanao, Philippines

I am not part of any manufacturer or service group. However there are a couple of common problems that are easily fixed. One very big one is some debris or fire proofing falling out of the door or frame getting trapped in the way so the door doesnt seal. Also it can fall into the holes if there are any and block the bolts. First will it lock when in the open postion?? This may require locating the door bolt stop inside the door hinge. It stops bolt travel if the door is open. Pushing it into the safe will move the stop and the handle to be free to through the bolt or bolts. If the handle does move and lock and you can turn the dial then it will be the issue i described above.
If you cannot lock the door in the open position with the retainer pushed in then it is inside the door mechanism. I would refer you to your local locksmith who is also a safeman. You could open the back plate and explore if you have mechanical skills and feel comfortable. However i recommend a safeman. Good luck!

How to close an SW3750 safe (by Sentry Safe)

To close and lock

You can relock the safe in two ways. With the door

closed, depress the key lock (if equipped) with your

finger, or spin the combination dial one full turn.

For greatest security, do both. (Make sure the door
handle is in the horizontal position.) There is a link to the manual at the bottom of this page...

I have the combination. The green light comes on when I use it, but the lever wont operate. Any suggestions?

I would say try replacing the battery holder. A1 Locksmith Burlingame CA 94010 have Sentry safe locks, keys, battery holders, battery door covers, and door handles. New parts reclaimed from damaged freight returns. But only a small supply in stock.

How to set up th ebatteries in my sentry safe DSW5781?

Locksmiths agree
1. Remove and discard the screw (if
equipped) at the base of the lock case.
2. Turn the electronic lock case to the
right (clockwise), from 12 o’clock to
2 o’clock, and remove.
• Insert 4 new AA batteries (not included) to power
this lock.
• Replace the electronic lock case and turn to the
left (to 12 o’clock) to reassemble.
NOTE: The yellow LED will light when the batteries
need to be replaced.
3. Turn the key (if your safe is equipped with a key
lock) to the right so the lock cylinder pops out.
4. Enter the factory code. When the green light appears, you
have four seconds to turn the handle down to
open. Try this several times before proceeding to
the next step.
To unlock safe:
Enter the 5-digit factory code, a pre-programmed
user code, or a pre-programmed user pin
programming instructions. When the
green LED lights you have 4 seconds to turn the
handle and open the safe.
To lock safe:
Close the door and return the handle to the
horizontal position. For greatest security, depress
the key lock (if equipped) with your finger.

I cannot close my safe's door

This is locked in the open position.

You will need to go through the opening procedure to open the mechanism. You will then be able to close the door before locking it again securely.

Green proceed light goes on but door does not depress lock

I have a different model but I had the same problem. Called customer service and they had me push up on the handle and enter the code. That didn't work but then they had me tap the safe with a rubber mallet 5 times above the panel and 5 times to the right of the panel. That worked for me. Hope one of those works.

Is there any way to crack the safe by feel, ive seen it done before and have some experience in opening locks with pin tumblers, but not wheel tumblers. i can find the notch in the third wheel at around 10-15 but i dont know where to go from there. I would not be using this information for any illegal use, i just need to open my safe on my own, and soon, thank you.
