The reason I posted the problem is that it needed repair. I need to know how to repair it?

  • que957 Feb 26, 2008

The unit is out of warranty and I don't think there are manuals available. I don't think I need someone to tell me to take it to a shop or read a manual. The quick fix items in the operating manual (plug it in etc)are not what I expected from this forum either. Does anyone have experiance on this model that they can relate?

I cannot accept that ALL of the buttons should die at the same time. There are 18 buttons and dials that are inop.

The buttons of the receiver are dead. I mean you should change them. Take off the front of the stereo and replace the old buttons with the new ones. Hope this helped you.

Hi,
if the unit is warranted return to suppliers, they,ll do a cost effective repair.
there may be internal fuses blown, but these are,nt probably fuses as you,d know them. i.e glass-wired et,c. they,ll be on-board components resembling small rectangular blocks. usually white/black.
There are possibly l.e.ds at either end of the tuner bar, which may be replaceable, or soldered connections.
if you feel confident, and the units out of warranty, probably worth a look.

It's likely that the ribbon cable connecting the front panel to the mainboard has come loose. Make sure your unit is unplugged, then remove the screws holding the top cover in place. This should give you easy enough access to check the ribbon cable connection.

Good luck!

Hi,

Your set really needs a repair. There is a pair of bulbs behind the display that burn out.this is the reason why you are not getting the display. If you can see the info when there's light in the room, but there's no light in the display you probably need to change the lamp/LED that lights it. If there's no info at all then i am sad to say that it has to be repaired.

Goodluck..

Front panel switches not working, works fine with remote control

Not good. At least the remote is working fine. With high cost of labor and parts you might just be better off dealing with it or replacing unit.

I pushed a button and lost all sound, what should i do? is there a reset button to get going again?

The "MUTE" function on your remote control has been activated. To deactivate the "MUTE" function, simply press the "MUTE" button on your remote control. (Make sure the volume control is turned down to avoid damage to your system.) If you misplace or lose your remote control, you will have to purchase a new remote control unit, as there is no duplicate function on the front panel of your stereo. Unplugging the stereo will not deactivate the muting circuit, as the microprocessor "remembers" if the muting circuit was active prior to being turned off or unplugged. If you need to purchase a remote control, you may order one directly from our parts office.

Remote control won't work

Could need a new ir sensor or repair solder connections on the display (ir) board. You can check that the remote is putting out a signal by viewing it with a camcorder, turn the camera on look through the viewfinder and point the remote at it push a button. If it is working you will see a flashing light on the remote.

Denon avr-2500 left main speakers very quiet.

The Denon 2500 was one of the best ProLogic receivers built, it was a work horse and very little ever went wrong with them.
To make sure you're only supposed to hear right & left speakers, press the Stereo button on the remote. Also recheck your speaker connections - this is the single most overlooked connection problem folks have.
Check the balance control to make sure it's in the center position

Make sure the Tape Monitor is not engaged.

Then, check to make sure that the Pre-Out, Main-In jumpers are connected properly on the rear panel.
If that is not the problem, try pressing the Tone Direct button on the remote (aka Tone Defeat on the front panel).

Yamaha RX-V793 flashing light on volume control and no volume

Per Yamaha support page: The volume light on my Yamaha AV receiver is flashing, what does this mean ? The "MUTE" function on your remote control has been activated. The reason that you can still hear a very low sound is that the muting circuit within your stereo is not a full mute, but rather a -20dB mute. You may reach them by dialing (714) 522-9888 from 8 am to 3 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. If you have any other questions, please contact our customer service department by dialing (800) 292-2982 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
