ACER sends me to NTI back full circle looking for the NON-EXIST ANT driver. Is there a legit reference to some code I can poke the darn drive with to make it play nice> with the option to back out if it proves useless? whimper.

setting in your DVD burner utility
look for options or advanced settings on the utility that burns the DVD or CD's i e nero or roxio etc.
Usually you can format a DVD CD burner to make it playable on all devices
OK you may want to tr changing the program you use to burn with. This will determine whether it is a hardware fault or a software fault. Try using

I hope this helps. If it does could you please rate me.
Well first off you need to get Acer to send you the disk... you are entitled by law to have it as it is not pre-installed.
However, I think the point here is not if you have the software, but if you have the right hardware.
You see, all computers can burn CD/DVD IF they have a DVD burner fitted. It sounds to me like you have a CD/DVD Combi-reader fitted which will let you listen to CD/DVD and will also burn CDs....but WILL NOT let you burn a DVD.
I checked the web for specs for your computer and all I could find seemed to back this up.... however if you can tell me what the computer says is fitted that would help. You can find that info out by either looking in the manual it came with or by looking in your device manager and that will tell you what the CD/DVD is.
let me know ok... but I really do believe that you will find you have a combi unit and not a DVD burner. If so you need to buy one... and may I suggest you look at an external USB one, like the LG Super Multi...its good for price and is a nice fast and well made unit.
