Bypass Tray Troubles

I just purchased a new bypass tray for my xerox copier model 5018. when i put the tray in a light comes on that says "close the door". the bypass tray does not have a door to close, it just slides in on the

    I had previously received that advice and that solved the "door closed" problem but now the machine will not pick up the paper from that tray.
    The copier acknowledges that that is th tray it is suppose to be using but it will not feed regular paper or card stock. Does not even try to pick up the paper. Gives me an error message saying "misfed paper"

    Solution: Clear all Paper Jams From Inside the Machine

    1. Pull the Sorter or Output Tray away from the machine.
    2. Pull the release latch to open the Clamshell. The release latch is located on the front, left side of the machine, below the Control Panel.

    3. Remove any paper found inside the machine. If necessary, lift the baffle higher to expose any hidden paper. The baffle is a black plastic piece with four wide black rollers attached. Look for full and partial sheets of paper that may be causing the jam.

      CAUTION: The Fuser area may be hot!

    4. Lift the silver baffle and remove any paper. The silver baffle is a metal flap. There are two sets of rollers positioned across the baffle. The top set of the rollers will lift up when raising the baffle.

      NOTE: Some machine models may have a green handle. If there is a green handle in the Fuser area, lift the Fuser baffle higher to expose any hidden paper.

    5. Push the Sorter or Output Tray toward the machine.
    6. To close the Clamshell, stand on the left side of the machine and push down on the front and back corners of the Clamshell using both hands.

      NOTE: If you cannot remove all the paper jammed in the Fuser area, power OFF the machine and call for service.

Please reset the copier maybe unplug it on the wall to automatically reset the setting. please refer to the manual in installing the tray make sure that the tray is match in you copier. it should be same size and if possible it should be replacement and copied designed with the old one.

That close the door, usually means the main cover panels. Are you certain that all of them are fully closed. any one of them being slightly ajar can cause that..or the tray may not be fully seated. remove it and slowly insert it again. If there are any fit issues, then remove it, inspect inside, for obstructions, then try again.

    ok..that's a pickup assembly issue. Are you using good quality paper? is it 'riffled'(meanging fluttering the paper with your hand, prior to inserting the paper..this still is a good idea.)

Has your copier got a door that opens an closes if it has switch it off then press and hold the door or flap down and see if this removes the message doing this would tell you that the problem is not with the door then we can look at other possibiltys let me know what happens ok

check the printer properties in Windows Control panel and see if printer settings are set to bypass tray

You must manually define the papersize and orientaion of bypass tray at the printer console or printer driver.
Then print bypass tray (e.g. Tray6 on our Xerox).

How do i print envelopes on a Lanier LP331cn laser color printer?

You should see a bypass tray near the main paper tray. On laniers it is recommended you use the bypass tray for envelopes.

when you send a print job make sure to select the bypass paper tray option

Printer always prints from bypass tray...

Check the setting in / on your computer. Make sure it is not set to default to the bypass tray.

Can't Print Envelopes from the Bypass Tray

you have to tell the printer in the print que that you are using envelopes and what size envelope.

Can't print envelopes

Solution Title: How to print on COM10 envelops from the Bypass tray (PCL6) using a Windows 2000 O/S Resolution/

Critical Message: The Envelope must be placed in the Bypass Tray face down (flap side up) and Long Edge IN. In Microsoft Word (Word 2000)
    1. Under the Tools tab, select Envelopes and Labels.
    2. Enter your Delivery and Return addresses.
    3. Click on Options
    4. Under Envelope Options; [Envelope size], select Size 10 (41/8 x 91/2 in)
    5. Under Printing Options, select Portrait (LEF) - Long Edge Feed
        • As Feed from, select Tray 5 (Bypass)
    6. Click <OK>

Within the WorkCentre Pro 123/128 print driver
After opening up the print driver [<Start>, <Settings>, <Printers>, double-click on the WCP 128 PCL6 driver], click on Printing Preferences under the General tab.
  • Under the Paper/Output tab
Set the following features as follow:
    • Job Type: Normal Print
    • Paper Size: COM10
    • Output Size: Same as Paper Size
    • Image orientation: Portrait
    • Image Rotation: OFF
    • 2 sided Print: 1 sided Print
    • Stapling: None
    • Output destination: Center Output Tray
    • Offset Stacking: None

  • Under Tray/Layout
  • Set Paper Source to Tray 5 (Bypass)
  • Click on Bypass Tray Settings
    • Paper Type: Heavyweight (1 or 2)
    • Feed orientation: Portrait
  • Click <OK>
  • " on Specify Paper Type and select Heavyweight (1 or 2)
  • " (Apply> and <OK>
  • " <OK> again

In Microsoft Word under Envelopes and Labels, Click <Print> to send the information to the printer.

Note: This setup represents one way of printing envelopes. Other ways setting up some features in a different manner will work as well.
