HARD DRIVE IN 2 PARTS

I HAVE THE ACER 3260 TRAVEL MATE LAPTOP.

I HAVE A 80 GIG HARD DRIVE BUT NOW MY (C) DRIVE IS SAYING THAT I'M REACHING MY LIMIT ON THAT DRIVE WHICH IS ONLY 35 GIGS.

I HAVE A (D) DRIVE BUT IT WONT AUTOMATICALLY GO THERE TO SAVE ANY DATA. HW CAN I MAKE THAT HAPPEN?

Your laptop only has one hard drive but it is partitioned into two parts (C and D). Laptop manufacturers often do this so they can put restoration software on the D drive. Typically they will partition the D drive large enough to hold the installation/restoration software and not much more. If, for some reason the D drive has lots of room on it, you can use a product like Partition Magic to re-partition the C and D drives and move some of the free space from the D to the C drive.

    Good luck.

Hi,

You can redirect all your data to be saved into drive D and even downloads. Please look for the preferences of all your application software (can be seen in tools, option, change the default drive in Save In menu). Now, to free some space delete all temporary files from Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup. Hope this gives you an idea.

Best regards,
Rosener

Hi there , i have an acer travelmate 6592 laptop , the original 80 gig hard drive crashed , and i dont have the recovery disc , the hidden partition wont re install either , i have bought a new 320 gig...

You cannot get the full 320Gb capacity because the BIOS can only support a maximum of 127Gb.
You only hope is a BIOS firmware upgrade that can support 320Gb. Check out the Acer WEB site to see if a BIOS upgrade will solve your problem.
OTHERWISE
Install a 127Gb hard drive in your Acer and put the 320Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive because it is not affected by the BIOS limitation.

I like to xchange my HDD 40gb on my acer 3260 travelate into 20gb HDD

The smallest new hard drive you can buy today is approx. 80 to 100 Gb.
You may be able to buy 2nd hand 20Gb ones but you don't know how long they will last for, it is a bit of a risk.
