I only want to know the meaning of the different colours of cables that are used in crossover cables?

the standard colours for CAT5(e) or CAT6 ethernet cable are:

green, green stripe
blue, blue stripe
orange, orang stripe
brown, brown stripe

the typical setup for an ethernet connection in an RJ45 (the crystal end with the connection tab towards you) is

1 green stripe gclosen.jpg
2 green
3 orange stripe
4 blue
5 blue stripe
6 orange
7 brown stripe
8 brown

Wires 1 & 2 are used to transmit data from the PC to the router/modem (TX) and wires 3 & 6 are used to recieve information from the modem/router (RX). in this fasion, information flows along one pair or another and is expected to arrive at that pinout. the router/hub/modem takes care of the transition to the next cable or out to the internet.

In a crossover cable ONE end is configured as above, but the colours for wires 1, 2, 3, and 6 are exchanged so that when no hardware is between the two PCs/components the signal is transmited at wire 1 & 2 and recieved on pins 3 & 6 on the other system/component. the other colours are placed for backward compatibilitiy and other applications, such as power over ethernet.

following the standard above allows anybody familiar with RJ45 connections repair a connection with a standard colour code and pattern without having to see the other end. If you know you need to replace one end of a patch cable, you use the standard termination.

I have an outside spot light with a motion detector controlled by an inside switch. I want to change outside fixture & install dimmer switch in place of wall switch. I removed outside fixture. There...

First, let me say that if you're not entirely comfortable doing high voltage electrical work, you might want to call an electrician. It's not impossible for you to get hurt or killed or burn down your house. At least be sure to turn of the circuit breaker while you're working on it.

The blacks and whites twisted together are passing through power to other parts of your premises and are always on, so be sure to keep them twisted together. The red is the one that will take power from your light switch and send it to your light fixture.

At the fixture, connect the white to white and red to black, the same as before. At the light switch, connect the black to one side of the switch and the red to the other. When you turn on the switch, it will permit power from the black to travel down the red to the fixture, and from the fixture, the circuit will be completed through the white.

Good luck!

I have manual seats and i am thinking of changing

Going to a junkyard quiz the operator about cars or trucks that they have that may have all the parts you need used. The cost of new parts in this area are very expensive and you can possibly find everthing you need in one vehical. Once the parts are found your not done as the wiring in your vehical may not have everything you need as the new seats may be heated and your vehical may not suport it. Alldata for your car is inexpensive and will save you from having to figure it all out for yourself. An experienced Junkyardman may know what you need and even reconmend a good mechanic to make everything work as they know their customers and they know who the resonable pros are and how to find them. Good luck,Staying with the same brand and nearly the same model may get you bolts right up if your car was made for the option that you want. John

How to attach 12V to car fuse box

if it is led it most likely is a low volt and very low amps. you can go behind the radio and find the switched wire using a test light when you turn on car the test light will light you want to use this wire and splice it in using the blue scissor type splicers no cutting or soldering required. This wire will be close to the black and red wire going into radio. Possibly a red wire as well if there are two red wires one might be switched and one always on for retaining clock or radio stations in memory.

Speakon cable to amp

Check the wire's insulation for ridges or striping; if the insulation is clear check the color of the wire inside. Then check the source of the wire to determine which polarity is connected to which wire. Once you know the polarity of the wires at the source, it should be easy to determine the polarity of the wire at the destination. The wire closest to the particular banana clip is most likely the one connected to it. If all else fails, you could use an OHM meter.
