Royal blue / navy blue on the screen prints out looking purple

Royal blue and navy blue colors in Photoshop CS2, when printed from the 7760, come out looking purple. Any ideas how to get the right colors to print?

  • Kit_Gilmore Feb 12, 2008

Thank you! Any idea how I would check that? This is a big dark area for me.

  • Kit_Gilmore Feb 12, 2008

Great, I'll go check it out, thanks! I have several other printers in the office I could link to if it's not compatible.

Ahem...well..this has a lot to do with the rgb to cmyk issues on the transforms. You may need to see if the Photosmart is compatible with the Adobe Photoshop C2 transforms..

  • Anonymous Feb 12, 2008

    sure...go to HP photosmart drivers(www.hp.com)

and then look for the Postscript compatible drivers..

or do to www.adobe.com and see if that printer is on compatibility list for C2

    got backup?

Try cleaning the head with an alcohol swab. It is a thermal printer. It may have paper dust or debris. Parts from Royal in the link.

We have a sharp mx3501n printer. Whenever I print from Photoshop CS2 the prints are horrible. Any suggestions for color profiles/settings that might make this better. Should I be using a CMYK file in...

Definately CMYK so you can see which colors are out of gamut. If copies are lousy too, then you might have old supplies in the machine. In service sim mode (type # * C *) go to 64-5 and print the test charts directly from the print engine. You should get one greyscale and one color page. If those look bad, then you need a supply change (drum, developer, or belts). In the driver under Printing preferences you have the option to set color schemes until you find one that works. If you still have trouble, get a new driver from www.sharpusa.com, past that a firmware flash may be necessary.

Xerox Phaser 8560 - I have been having print quality issues for a few weeks - what shows as bright blue on my screen or if I am printing a photo comes out very dark blue, purple comes out navy blue. I have...

Since it's a brand new printer it's probably not the printer, but your set up . Not knowing what program you are printing from, I can't advise beyond that 1) check the reference for the program you are printing from about setting up your color to be compatible with your printer (look under color management). Usually it has to do with your file's color profile matching the printer profile.

Green tint when printing

Hi, did you tried to calibrate your colors but on the printer? The printer decides which color it's gonna print, regardless to the color on the screen. He's gonna try most of the time to print the closest color he can make. We call this WYSINWYG. What You See Is Not What You Get. You should have a tool with the HP printing software. Otherwise i guess you can print a test page to check the colors. Make sure each color Cyan/magenta/yellow and black print corectly on the test page. Usally on HP printers you have to hold the Go button 5-10 sec and it's gonna print the test page but refer to your manual if you are not sure how to do this. Could also be a problem with your print heads, check if there is a procedure in the manual to clean those.

Royal Portable typewriter ribbon

Hi, I have a Royal Companion Portable from 1940's. I bought new ribbons at mytypewriter.com (select the "Royal Portable" ribbon). It fits. Anyway if it doesn't it's not an expensive mistake, but I researched this and apparently all vintage Royal Portables have the same standard ribbon. Worked out in my case. Good luck!
