the motor runs but the teeth or blades to not move

  • Anonymous Mar 27, 2009

I have the novitech shredder and it will not at this time. I shredded 3 sheets of paper yesterday with no problems. This problem also occurred about a month ago.

    What can I do?

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2009

In order for the shredder to move forward and shred the paper it has to be put in reverse first and then it takes it going forward.

  • Karen Portell May 01, 2012

Was wanting to know how much it would cost to purchase the shredder only . model number is PS026/B2. My is making a terrible noise, I have had it a while and have not had any problems with it . I think it is just going out.

After clearing the jam (with the unit unplugged!), let the unit cool completely, then try using it again. A notice on the nameplate inside my unit says: "2 min on/4 min off." Apparently, a thermal cutoff keeps it from overheating by automatically preventing continued operation that might otherwise melt the parts. So heed the directions. I had the same problem with my NoviTech Model PS-026/B2 crosscut shredder (max: 5 sheets, 1 credit card). Also, make sure the motor mechanism is seated square and flush on the bin. I tried testing it out of the bin, and the green ready light wouldn't come on -- for a good reason: safety. (I still have all of my fingers, thanks to that!) Hope this helps.

For user snowbut you may have plastic strippers on underside that have broken or the area holding the cutter in place on the one side may have cracked allowing cutters to move together

For user kooljay without more info you may have a broken gear or a dirty, stuck, or broken paper feed sensor.

I have paper stuck in the top of my shredder, How do I remove It?

This happens more tomes than I can count with my mom. You cant feed an feed it an not stop an clean out the shreads that build up in the teeth. You will need to remove the top or how ever you can get it apart. Get what ever tool you can find an begin clearing all the paper from the teeth or rollers. You will notice a switch on the side that gets jammed at times an stops the unit. Also if it got to hot you can reverse it an the paper will back out. They quit from heat, to thick or many sheets at once, an paper jams. I used a pencil an a paper clip once. Use what ever it takes.

Omnitech shredder model ot--exc10a , shredder runs but when insert paper to shred it stops, pull out paper and it runs non stop!

Sounds like there's blockage between rollers and it also jams the sensor so auto function stops working. You will need to clear out as much jammed paper as you can using tweezers. Inspect the centre of the feed opening, there should be sensor which must be clear of blockages and moving freely. So clear any stuck paper with tweezers, in addition you can soak any jammed paper with WD-40 and unit should be good as new. Although if sensor arm is damaged then replacement of such sensor is unavoidable.

Paper jam, what to do

Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

I jammed it with too much paper

Check the Power Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active. Rest the Shredder Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate. Clear Paper Jam Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Auto Mode Not Working Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

My omnitech shredder OT-NXC8PA stopped working after clearing a paper jam. Seems the machine is running, but not sucking papers.

I think you just fried your gears. The motor is fine, but the gears that connect the motor to the shredding mechanism have had the teeth flattened up. No teeth on the gears = not shredding papers. The gears are made of plastic anyway.

SHREDDER STOPS (RED LIGHT) VERY FREQUENTLY

there are what is called strippers that ride in between the teeth to keep paper from building up. they are plastic and can break after awhile. sounds like you have some of the stripper combs broken.

Royal 9 x cross cut shredder wont go through even two pages thick

Put some shredder oil on the paper you are shreding...shred a number of sheets with oil on them so that the oil gets down into the cutting shafts/teeth.

The solution is to remove the paper bin, and dig out the jam.

1. Unplug shredder
2. Remove paper bin
3. Lay it on it's side or back
4. Dig out all the paper around the teeth
5. Put paper bin back in and plug in
6. Should be good to go
