it sounds like the evaporator fan blade is hitting some ice that has built up around the blades i have seen this happen a lot on g.e. SxS lately,if you can remove the ice maker and dispenser you can see the fan blade,if you dont want to do this then shut down the refrigerator and leave freezer door open and heat it carefully with a hairdrier to speed the process up to melt this ice then restart it and the noise should be gone
I had this same issue with my GE refrigerator and figured out it is a common problem with these units. The water line freezes up near the dispenser panel. Fortunately, GE has an inexpensive solution, a water line heater, that fixes the problem with little work. Check out my blog post on my ge refrigerator water dispenser not working for complete details.
On the back right side facing the refrigerator at the bottom is a connector for a quarter inch water line. Sometimes you have to loosen the back to access this. Hook your water line up here.
In this case it points to the motherboard. Just make sure that both fans are working properly before changing the board, I will assit you through the whole job if you want and possibly find the less priced board for your model. Unplug refrigerator and pull away from wall. Then take cover over the motherboard off and examine both sides for signs of heat or burn damage. (You may Need to disconnect pin plug connectors to see the back side). Many times some areas of the board will desolder themselfs from the heat. I will be right back with a photo, part numbers and a link, Thanks, Sea Breeze
Then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . There is a heater for the water dispensor tube , pt # WR49X10173 , which should keep this from happening again .
The water dispenser and ice maker side run separate sides of the water control valve. Fill ice maker with tap water and let it freeze. If it dumps the ice then does not refill then the water control valve is the problem. I will be back soon with a photo and some links, Thanks, Sea Breeze
