3 beeps at start

My laptop started to freeze often, Im a second life gamer... I purchased my laptop in nov.06... new years eve 08 i was on computer when the screen went white... next morning i tried to turn the computer on and got 3 beeps one long beep 2 short beeps ... when i turn the computer in there is no screen and gives a clicking sound, turns off and makes clicking sounds again if i unplug and take out battery sometimes it boots up, hp support said to update bios, did it and still nothing!!.... please can someone help me!!!

I have the same problem three beeps(one long beep and two short beeps) just warrenty over by one month help me

Hmmm...that's not good. works fine with no battery. I suspect your motherboard may be taking a vacation from working soon.

When i boot up my computer it beeps like 25 times and then it freezes it tries to boot windows


What brand the laptop is?
How many beeps are short and long and in what sequence?
Do you receive any error?
When the computer starts it checks its hardware and proceeds to boot the OS (windows). If it finds a hardware fault it will beep a code and stop there. The beep code may depend on the fault itself (video, memory, etc) and BIOS brand (Phoenix, American Megatrends, etc). You can try entering the BIOS by holding the or keys as soon as you turn it on for about 5 secs while it shows the first logo on screen. Then in BIOS you can see whats the brand of the BIOS is and with that info search for the beeping codes for that BIOS brand. That will say what kind of fault the unit is having. I hope this works. Im new in this FixYa so I dont know if you can reply me with the answers.

I havnt used my dv8000 in over a year because i purchased another laptop, however im trying to sell it but i cannot remember the power on password, is there anyway to override or bypass it?


Start the laptop holding down the f11 key till you hear a beep.

Then the system restore dialogue box comes up which allows you reset the system to the factory setting as if it was brand new.

SMC Barricade wireless router needs to be reset constantly


Maybe it is an electricity problem, or it's nearing the end of it's life. I bought 2 routers till now.each one worked fine for 2 years and then never worked.You should buy a new one or check if there's something with the electricity . Maybe a higher voltage

Computer freezes on boot up


make sure the mouse and keyboard are in right connections...if you look closely youll see icons next to ports.
try without mouse at first start up ,load windows and use key with windows logo on it to access start and scroll to shutdown tab and restart...plug in the mouse before restart.
if logo tab isnt assigned press ctrl + esc to access start menu.

Won't honor warranty


Unfortunately, Microsoft has the final say on warranty issues. Speaking as someone who presently works at the customer service desk at one of the major retailers, it's not surprising that the store staff couldn't help you.

It's possible that the unit you have was sold once to someone else, then returned to the store and re-sold to you. If that's the case, Microsoft will say the warranty started the day it was sold the first time (even if the first owner never opened the box), since they get information from the retailer when they scan the serial number on the box at the time of sale. Also, I'm afraid it doesn't matter when the defect occured--what matters is when you call them; so screenshots etc. won't be a help in this case.

Try calling Microsoft again, but ask for a supervisor. Be polite, but insistent. Saying, "I know that your system says my warranty is expired, but I'd like to speak with your supervisor about that," might work. If they try a line like "but my manager will say the same thing," then respond with "I'm sure that might be true, but I'd still like to have him or her say it directly to me." Try to convince them to allow you to fax them a copy of the receipt with the accurate purchase date. If you can convince them that they're wrong, they'll probably make an exception to allow you to return it even though it's now well into December.

SCANER BEEPING


hello,

I have a same issue with my MS-7120, how ever mine is in worse stage, when i power up, it beeps and u can see green/red light blinks on top, and it tries to spin the inner motor + tries to turn inner light on, but after several seconds it goes dead. how ever red/green light blinks on top.

i contact the company which i purchased from, he told me these scanner has life expectation of approx 3 years, after 3 yrs they die.

i was told cause is from heavy/light voltage transfer from outlet.

and they have to be repaired by orbit support.

i am afraid to tell your, sounds like urs is ready to die. just beware !!
