My T22's screen disappeared one day so I ordered the LCD cable and a friend installed for me. It was fine but started doing it again so I just left it open, since closing it seemed to do something to it. It is now acting weird again, sometimes with multi colored stripes, sometimes freezing on the windows loading page. Just freezing up. Does anyone think replacing the motherboard will do anything? I am just fed up with it but dont want to buy a new one at the moment. I like my IBM so a new motherboard or refurbished one would still be better than buying a new comp.

mine doesn't just come up with a blank blue screen ithas writing on it which says:

    STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}

The registry cannot load the hive (file):

    \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE

    or its log or alternate.

It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

    Beginning dump of physical memory

    physical memory dump complete.

Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further

    assistance.

I have an OEM loaded Thinkpad T30 that until last night (!) booted and ran MS/XP SP3 just fine. NOW it won't boot AT ALL (not even into Safe) but instead "blue screens" with ~ "systemroot\system32\config\software file is corrupt, missing, or unwritable". I can "Norton" boot it to dos-prompt but NOW what? Microsoft's "Help and Support" instructions warn that OEM loaded OS should NOT use their directions to bak up and replace the system; software; sam; security; and default windows\system32\configwindows\system32\config files. HALP.

This solution is for s-k-i-t: you will have to get a copy of the win xp install disk to fix this problem (you can borrow one as long as you have a COA on your laptop) but first get into the BIOS by pressing F1 right after you turn it on - you'll see the prompt in lower left corner. Then go to startup>boot>hard drive>Enter. This will show you the type of hard drive. If it is a IBM or Hitachi less than 60 gig chances are it is failing and this is why the hives (where XP stores its memory states) are corrupt. You can download the "Ultimate boot disk" and make a CD that will let you run hard drive test tools. If the hard drive is bad I would try to get the eBay seller to make good - depends on how long you've had it.

This is skit i have fixed it! to install windows from cd you need to go into BIOS then go to startup then boot then put the cd drive first and the hard drive second on the list. it asks you to press any key to boot from cd. follow instructions and it's fixed!

One of the reasons a screen will go blue after a while, until it constantly is blue, is that the LCD screen requires an inverter. It is located under the LCD screen. Same thing with TV LCDs. They are easy to install, not too expensive but I would call your manufacturer's help site to find out how to check if that is the problem.

To SKIT: if the guy who sold it to you on ebay said it was in good working condition, get your money back. he violated the terms of sale, and Ebay dispute will help you. Don't mess around, if that is what was said.

Also, sometimes the screen will go to a blue screen, one with no writing or anything. I cannot get it to switch off and have to pull battery out.

My ibm thinkpad t23 will not go pass blue windowxp screen need help

There are many possible reasons for a blue screen at windows xp.the most likely ones are:damaged windows instalation - in which case you will need to reinstall windows.damaged physical drive - in which case you would need to get a new hard drivethe OS cannot access memory - could be RAM memory or HDD.
I'm guessing you would just need to re-install the windows. You are most likely to lose all data.

Laptop to TV connection problem

When your laptop boots up, Windows treats the second monitor (your TV) as a mirror of the primary monitor (your laptop screen). When Windows loads up and finishes initializing the more advanced features, it goes back to it's default setting of a single primary screen, and the secondary screen is in standby, waiting for you to do something with it. The fastest way to get the TV working would be to find the Function key on your keyboard (normally a purple-ish blue key labeled Fn) and the monitor switch key. The video switch key is normally in the Function key row (F1, F2, F3, etc...) and has the picture of a rectangle or TV-looking shape. Hold the Fn key down and then press the video-switch key once and see what happens. Lenovo laptops normally bring up a little on-screen program that allows you to pick which configuration you want. Good luck!

My ibm thinkpad t43 displayed a message "hard error D0014" on a small blue screen. when i shut it down by pressing the power button for a few seconds, it restarted. but the programs won't work.

This could be a problem, not sure if its a software related or if the hard drive is bad. If you can find a windows xp cd. Try and wipe out the hard drive and install windows xp on it. If it goes thru then you'll just need the drivers. If it errors out on you then you know its a problem with the hard drive and you'll need to replace it. If you get windows xp installed on it, let me know and I'll help you with the drivers.

When You Boot up your screen goes in to the windows xp loading bar and after a quick blue flashin screen pops up and it restarts unfortunately this is what they call the Blue Screen of Death so more than likely you harddrive with the os is corrupted so either you will need to reload the OS or by a new harddrive and load the Os on that Harddrive
