If the drive belt is broke how do you know?? I have my washer on it's side and am looking under it...can't figure out how to get the back off :-|

But mine fills with water and empties it just won't spin,,,I think it is the belt but don't know where it is located or how to replace?

Mom2tnip: If you are going to post a problem, you need to mention the model number of the washer (located somwhere along the lid opening), and the brand name. This makes it much easier in diagnosing a problem for you. Some washers do not have drive belts and are direct driven by a transmission. Last of all, it's probably not recommended to remove the back panel.

Warebear: Still never got any feedback on your intial washer symptoms. Have you found your problem? Do you still need assistnace? I will need a model number and brand name from you as well.

Does the washer fill? Does it agitate? Is a "no-spin" the only symptom? The "pin" doesn't have to broken off the lid for the lid switch to be bad. The switches sometimes separate, come loose, or the contacts wear out. Post back and let me know.

Why does the lid lock light start flashing after the wash cycle and will not rinse or spin?

Lift lid, stick screwdriver into slot where lid latch-pin inserts and see if it goes into the cycle. If so, try adjusting position of latch.

Washer won't drain or enter spin cycle

SHOULD BE THE LID SWITCH... THERE IS TWO SWITCHS INSIDE, ONE THAT STOP THE MACHINE, AND ONE TO LOCK THE DOOR. YOU SHOULD SEE THERE IS TWO PAIRS OF WIRES THAT CONECT WITH THE LID SWITCH, ONE PAIR IN THE FRONT, AND ANOTHER PAIR IN THE RIGHT SIDE, THAT RIGHT SIDE IS THE PROBLEM, INSIDE THE LID SWITCH MUST BE BROKEN. TRY TO MOVE THE PLATED LOCKING PIN IN THE DIRECTION THAT LOCKS THE DOOR, AND IT MIGHT DRAIN AND SPIN. IF THAT THE PROBLEM, YOU SHOULD GET A NEW SWITCH (MODEL 134101800), AND YOURE DONE.
GOOD LUCK

No spin cycle

Sounds like its the lid switch. Look on the cabinet where you shut the lid. Chances are the switch is broke.

Good Luck.

Whirlpool-spin cycle will not work

hi,

could be either the safety switch at the lid broke off or the plastic motor mount ujoint broke, they are both replaceable. have to study it. first open the lid and try and depress the safety switch, it should click. if it doesent thats it. if its the plastic motor part, the motor has to come off and a new plastic u joint goes in there, pretty easy fix, be careful and take time.

Opened it during spin cycle, machine kept running

if you open the lid, you will see a small pin on the lid proper, look where the lid seals when closed, you will see a small hole that that pin slides into. check to see if there is a blockage. if not. probably need to replace the switch that controls this.

check the lid switch some washers will fill and was with the lid open but will not spin, if the lid is closed manually actuate the lid switch or bypass it electrically, or replace it.
