SOURCE: Lens error screen

try several powercycles
if it's still not helping, this camera really needs professional repair and I believe your camera is still under warranty as this model has been released late part of 2007
as you said, there's no impact damage - it will be covered under warranty

call 1 800 235 6325 opt. 12 or you can arrange it through www.kodak.com/go/itg

don't send it to kodak's rochester address as it is not a repair center. you can get a repair tracking no. from the contact center agent and have a working camera back in 2 weeks

When i power on the Camera F72 EXR it comes up with an Error message that says turn camera off and then turn back on, i do that an the same error keeps popping up, also when camera shuts off the lense...

Whenever I've seen that before it's caused by the camera being dropped on its lens while the lens was out. It can be repaired though it's fairly expensive too, in my honest opinion you'd be better off getting a new camera.

Lense error and i cant fix it and the screen just comes up and says lense error

Hi there,

Well lens errors is a very common error on Digital Camera. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Follow the below steps to do a try to correct it -
1. Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh (or new) set of batteries back in and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.
2. Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one). If further you have the same problem - that means there is a gear-motor alignment of the lens which moves in and out with the help of motor (it need some repair). This part is replaceable at any authorized Service Center.
Hope it helps......Post comments if you need further help or information......

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!

Lens are stuck out. screen says "lens error"

There could be two things causing this problem.

1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of side of the lense. So the lense could not fully retract or open out. As a result you can not take any picture. If the lense comes out even a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard a few times. If it does not retract, turn the camera off and push the lense in (up and down) NOT too hard for a few times. If the camera opened up 100% or retracted 100%, your camera should be back to normal. Make sure to clean the outside of the lense when fully open and keep it clean always. If this did not help, read 2.

2- If you dropped the camera, some mechanical part of the lense is broken or dislocated or the cable may have come loose. In this case you need to take out the lense from the camera and inspect it for broken pieces or loose cable. clean the outside of the lense and push the lense in and out a few times. Put the lense back on the camera and your camera would be back to normal.

Good luck!!!!!!

My EX-S5 says lense error

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

I have canon SD1000 and went to turn it on and the lens would not come out and the screen said lens error restart camera. What do I do?

Try using a hurricane blower or forced air on the lense. It may be dirt trapped it the lense. if it appears to tilted to one side it may need repair. Taking out the batteries sometimes reset the lense see it that works first. Good luck!

Lense problem

Dear jmgrev,

Whenever you turn your camera on and your lens doesn't go in and out properly you are likely experiencing a lens error of some sort. Look for an error 18 or a "lens error restart camera" message. If either of these appears you definitely have a lens motor mechanism problem and will need to send the unit in for service.

If the lens still functions, but only intermittently - or if there seems to be a functional problem in focusing correctly or in taking an excessive time to focus, then you are in the early stages of what will soon become a fullblown lens issue.

These problems can be caused by a variety of things such as having obstructed the lens when turning the camera at one point, or getting grit in the lens mechanism or during/after a fall or some sort of impact. It can even happen spontaneously due to the tracking mechanism coming out of gear. Hopes this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB

"lens error" on casio ex-z3

Sorry to say but a lens error actually is a problem that you cannot fix at home. When a lens error occurs, the motors inside that make the lens retract and protract were some how damaged, usually caused if the lens try coming out when you have it in your pocket or against a surface so it cant fully come out. You will have to send the camera in for service and you can do that by calling 1-800-706-2534, option 1.
