Just curious I'm just learning about this site. For clarification, do you have to be an expert (certified or something?) in order to provide advice or just have knowledge of a particular product?

Well you just need knowledge to be around here and become an expert depending upon the solution you give so join and share your knowledge and fix some!!that is all about fixya

Tips on Posting Questions to Fixya


Here's some simple advice to anyone posting questions to Fixya that expects to find a solution. To begin, here's some preliminary basic information that is RECOMMENDED:

1. BRAND NAME - All brand names are NOT sold worldwide and are NOT designed the same. Whether it be appliances, electronics, lawn equipment, vehicles, etc., they all have different features, operating parameters and power requirements. Parts resources can also be different as some manufacturers do not ship internationally.

2. MODEL NUMBER - Again, ALL model numbered appliances, electronics, vehicles, etc., do NOT operate the same and offer different features. Failure symptoms can have different and significant differences between manufacturers. Please take the time to INCLUDE your MODEL NUMBER.

3. COUNTRY of ORIGIN - Although it is NOT currently a requirement by Fixya, it would help greatly if you would include your COUNTRY, since this is a WORLD WIDE service. Goods manufactured in different countries have different power requirements and can cause significant problems if the wrong advice is given.

EXAMPLE: The basic wire color codes in the United States differ from those in Europe. Voltage requirements for most European appliances and electronics is 220VAC, 50HZ. In the United States, the voltage requirements are 110VAC, 60HZ. The only exceptions are electric ranges and dryers in the US that use 220VAC, 60HZ.

4. SYMPTOM ELABORATION - Please include as much information as possible when describing the problem you are experiencing. ONE WORD GENERIC QUESTIONS, WILL USUALLY YIELD MINIMUM ATTENTION FROM THE EXPERTS. If WE have questions about your question, chances are it will go unresolved.

Come on I am a dummu and I understaxactly what I am saying. As I can see your experts are not experts. How much more easy can I make it who's the expert and how did they become one?

No one appointed me an expert, and I'm not a 'certified' expert. I've learned things, just as you have, through daily experience.
What I've learned, I want to 'pay forward' to others. If you find my answer helpful, then you can click the link that records that as a useful answer. All I get is points...no money...no cheering crowds...just the satisfaction that I've assisted someone who needed some help.

Using the hoover steam vac for the 1 st time and it was borrowed from a friend but no manual was provided...just need to now where exactly the water goes in the bottom or the top?



The clean solution with the shampoo mixed in goes into the top tank, and when you **** up the water it goes into the lower tank.

My Canon i80 which has been working well for several years now says that the "waste ink" receptacle is almost full and it needs maintinance. Is this something I can do myself? Kate Palmer


I learned that my printer does indeed need maintenance by a professional--and that I might break it if I tried to do it myself (not good news, but it was good advice)
I learned also the number and address for the nearest expert.

Have microwave but no install instructions. I have the templates and already put holes where they needed to go but then templates say refer to installation instructions which i don't have. Is there a site...

No my brother and I have been doing television repair since the mid seventies, and when we retired we decided that we would start a business as a way to help the avererage person repair their own sets without having to pay alot of hard earned money for something they could easially do theirselves, that why we give free tech support, 99.9% have easially repaired their sets for less than most shops charge for the estimate.
