Canon MP390 flashes "Waste Ink Near Full" but still prints if hit "set" button. Need to know how to empty waste tank. Have looked all over for waste tank, can not find.

Same problem. And about a month ago, the cartridge holder had to be cleaned -- followed all the online pc user suggestions -- to run it through hot water ... so I wonder if the printer is just finished and time to get a new one. The nearest repair center is a zillion miles away, and I'm sure getting it fixed now wouldn't be worth the money. Suggestions? I'm still searching online.

Brought my MP390 to an unauthorized dealer since closest dealer was over 300 miles away. Now it still says check computer. Emailed Canon and they say the dealer should have reset this. It is a scam . . .shame on you Canon.

In the end, folks, I decided to pitch the machine altogether. And Canon gave me a great price break (free shipping, discount, etc.) because they had my original serial number on their records ... I have a new MX310 (multi-function - faxes, scans, prints, copies color and black and white) and I'm very happy with it. Easy to use and does the trick.

I did decide, though, to stop printing photos from this machine. It uses up too much ink. Better to just go to CVS or a photo store and have them do the deed on better paper and use their ink. Occasionally I print cards with pix on them, or a 4x6, but not a slew. And it's so nice having this machine in the house, when I don't work anymore in an office where you could do all that stuff if need be.

My Canon MP390 Printer has come up ''Waste Inn Tank nearly full'' What should I do

CANON printers "compute" the "fullness" of the waste-ink container, based on the number of pages printed, and the "density" of the ink on each page. So, this calculation has produced a "nearly full" prediction. Take the printer to a qualified technician.
They will empty the waste-ink container, and "reset" the electronics in the printer, back to "zero-per-cent-full".

Message code on cannon copier

You need to have the waste ink absorbers replaced, the cost of the absorbers should be around $20.00 and service is usually around 50.00. That is a very messy job, you must disassemble printer removed used/ waste ink pads in the bottom of machine reset ink counters and the reassemble printer.

'Waste ink tank near full' Canon MP390

Hey there DrKeith

Click here for a page with a better solution than canon provides. You'll have to scroll to the bottom. But there is all sorts of useful info on the way down. So if you have the time, some of it may be useful to you also.

The procedure described resets the counters. It is detailed, easy to follow and much less expensive.

If you run into a problem, hit that ask button again. No worries.

Have a great day
Mike
