I couldn't find any model JWX23. So, since your question (as much as it is) is categorized under model JWX27, I'm going to presume you need the cleaning instructions for model JWX27.
With the coffeemaker off (with no lights on or with the red light blinking), pour four cups of pure white vinegar (no water added) into the reservoir. Don't short the amount. You'll need four cups to complete the cycle. Remove any filters, but leave the strainer basket in place. Tap the "select" button three times until the red light is on (and stays on, not blinking). The cleaning cycle now begins. It should take between 45 minutes and an hour to complete. Don't be concerned about the 30-minute long pause during the cycle when nothing happens. This is intentional and part of the cycle.
After the cleaning cycle has completed, get rid of the vinegar. Rinse out the strainer basket and the coffee pot. Run a full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle (with the pot and basket in place, of course). Then, dump the water, rinse the pot and basket again, and run another full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle. Dump that water too. And, you're done!

Follow the programming instruction in your Use & Care Guide.
You can buy commercial coffee maker cleaner at most places that sell coffee makers. Follow the package directions. Usually you just add it to a pot of water and run it through. Repeat the process, then run a couple of pots of plain water to rinse it. You can also use a pot of plain vinegar to clean the machine, but its a smell that many people find unpleasant.
Loosen the charcoal filter. You only need to GENTLY place it in. Your problems will all be solved. I just did it 5 minutes ago and i just brewed a 6 cup pot of coffee completely.
You could use any Bialetti or Vev Vigano instructions created for aluminum pots. I have a 6 cup Vev Vigano Kontessa Inox, but the instructions that came with it were standard. Remember to use correct measurement of water and coffee. Coffee grind should be espresso. I don't know about 12 cup, but assuming that it's double of the 6 cup size, I use 9 oz of water and 6 tablespoons of espresso grind. You could go to www.vev-vigano.com. Their customer service is pretty efficient. Even if you didn't buy your pot from them, they'll reply usually within 24 hours. Good luck.
Simply fill with COLD water to the number of cups desired. Place the stem and basket in the pot and put one 8 oz cup of coffee for every 20 cups of water into the basket...when doing 100 cups I add an extra 12 oz of coffee for a good coffee flavor. Place the perforated lid on the coffee basket that is in the pot (if there is a lid--some do not have a lid). Put the cover for the coffee pot in place. Plug in. Turn on if there is a switch. Give these large pots about 1 minute per cup, brewing time...that is a little over an hour usually to brew 100 cups. The coffee maker will percolate with the water coming up through the stem and over the coffee as the water heats. Usually there is an indicator light that comes on when it is finished.
If holding the coffee for awhile, it tastes best if you remove the stem and basket and it will maintain the heat without doing more "perking" and becoming stronger or bitter.
Be sure to wash it out and dry it well, leaving the lid loose or upside down for storage so that the pot doesn't become pitted. Blessings, Louise
