I have removed the upper rack to repair a plugged circulating arm and am having trouble positioning the clips that hold the rack level for loading the glassware. Is there a schematic or drawing available that outlines where the clips precisely go?

Thanks very much Joe for your prompt response but I am looking for an illustration that shows where the part clips to the upper rack. I mentioned in my problem that I needed to position the clips properly, however, that may be somewhat misleading. The clip that I am having difficulty with is what Kitchenaid refers to as the Wheel and Bearing Assembly, part number 9742983 (#3 noted on page 11 of the manual). It is a wheel that has a clip assembly as part of it. There are 4 of these, two on either side and they attach to the back part of the upper rack so that it can move along the upper track. If these aren't properly attached to the upper rack the whole rack falls forward from the weight of the glassware. Is there anything a little more specific that you are aware of? Thank you very much for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but the image on page 10 doesn't show the wheel bearing/clip assembly at the sides of the upper rack. I appreciate your assistance on this but I've got a feeling that there isn't anything, aside from getting a repair person in, that's going to give me a visual of precisely where these wheel bearings clip onto the upper rack. It's so frustration.

    Thanks again,

    Randy

No unfortunately this doesn't show the wheel assembly clip for the sides of the upper rack. There is a track that the upper rack rolls along. The wheel assembly enables the rack to roll in and out of the dishwasher unit, however, there are clips that must attach to the upper rack to ensure that the rack doesn't pull out too far and controls the level of the upper rack so that when dishes/glassware are loaded onto the upper rack it doesn't tilt forward from the weight. The positioning of these clips is absolutely essential to the proper function of the upper rack unit.

Hopefully this further explanation helps to resolve this problem and thanks again for all your assistance.

Seth765, unfortunately I can't see the picture. Can you please send it in another format, perhaps a PDF?

    Thanks,

    Good day Clay58:

Thanks very much for the image but unfortunately this is not the model I have. The clip that I am having difficulty with is what Kitchenaid refers to as the Wheel and Bearing Assembly, part number 9742983 (#3 noted on page 11 of the manual). Here is a link:

Once again, I am grateful for the amount of effort put into resolving this issue.

    Sincerely,

Appliancepartspros.com has diagrams for that model. Here is the link that should show the upper rack

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=238625&diagram_id=20702#d20702

If that doesn't work, put your model number into the box on their home page -- it's pretty easy from there.

I have a KitchenAid so here is a photo of the clips with the rack installed. I hope this is what you want. I hope yours is the same. If you need more photos please ask. I have removed the upper - 545c537.jpg

I understand you have an older model. You should have never removed the wheel and bearing assembly. You remove the Track Stop and it then slides out. Sorry I could not help you.

Top water outlet doesn't spin

Not sure of the vintage of your Maytag dishwasher, but this may work for yours.
1. Remove the upper rack by releasing the stop clips on the ends of the rack rail; push the ends of the clips towards center of machine - this may require the help of a small screwdriver.
2. The upper spray arm assembly is mounted to the ceiling of the wash chamber by large (2" diameter) fluted nut that butts right against the ceiling sheet metal. Simply remove that nut by hand, and the whole assembly will come out.
3. Looking into the top of center feed hole, you'll see 4 plastic clip ends holding the 3 pieces together. Use a 1/4# socket or nutdriver to press all 4 clips inward until they come free.
4. The spray arm halves are welded together, so you'll have to clean out any clogs using a pointy tool and some water flushing.
5. Reassembly is the reverse order.
Good luck!

Top rack does not wash dishes.

Possible causes of spray arm inefficiency:
Loading large or tall items in the lower basket which stops the arm revolving.
Upper spray arm split along seam.
Upper spray arm blocked.
Under dosing of powder causing foam and reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
Blocked strainers reducing water to circulating pump, therefore reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
inefficient wash motor impellor (faulty)

Upper rack is not cleaning. Greasy dishes on top seem that dishes are not being washed. Seems the upper water turning dispenser is not working, Bottom rack seems ok. I guess I only have half a dish washer...

Check the upper arm for free spinning, then remove the arm and check that the seam between the upper and lower halves has not split somewhere. Also check all the small holes for debris plugging. Run the machine in wash cycle for a little while with the upper arm off--that should flush out anything blocking the pipe up to the arm. If still nothing from the upper arm, tear down the lower arm assembly down to the deck while noting position of all parts removed. Clean the big screen at the bottom in white vinegar and hot water. Inspect the holes in the bottom for anything blocking them.

Bosch dishwasher - top row of dishes do not get clean

There is a screen that you can remove from the sump of the dishwasher to clean. Just twist it to the left and pull it out. I have some tips that you might want to check out if this does not resolve your problem.

Upper arm not working

I had similar problem. the problem was due to having not enough water pressure in the line to the upper srapy arm. Did the following:

1. removed debris from sump assembly;
2. removed wash motor and clean clogged separation screen; and
3. sealed with Teflon tape manifold and probe manifold of the upper sray arm.

If you google for 'whirlpool 8178022' you should be able to get KD-12 repair manual.

Goof luck.

Top arm not spinning

only the top rack isnt getting clean?
there is a little plastic circle in the middle of the bottom of the upper spray arm. turn it counter clock wise to pull the upper spray arm from the upper rack. make sure that isnt clogged and the spray holes are not clogged. otherwise....

the piece that the bottem spray arm plugs into and runs along the back wall of the tank to the top is called a feed tube. pull the bottom spray arm out. now you can see the part of the feed tube that feeds the upper spray arm water. does it pop out freely and easily? if so then you need a new feed tube, if not then its most likely your not achieving the right water level or your impeller connected to your circulation pump(motor) is clogged not supplying enough water pressure to travel up the feed tube to spin the upper spray arm.

Upper spray arm is not turning round even though water is coming through. We have checked the internal system for blockages and the machine is filling / draining as normal. When a full programme is run,...

I found the problem to be neither blockages of the upper arm or roof spray arm or the upper basket arm hitting the the back of the dishwasher. the problem was that the pump inlet where the food scraps are macerated was blocked with all manner of gunge including small chicken bones plastic and other detritus. Removal of the macerator housing under the upper filter housing using 2 different sizes of torx driver easily fixed the problem. Probably why the upper dish rack cleaning degraded overtime, Directly proportional to the amount of detritus blocking the intake screen behind the macerator.17a8801.jpgb9e8fa8.jpg789f2b8.jpgfb7a626.jpgator. Water not getting to the upper level, dishes not cleaned.

Penrod, sounds like a circulation problem. Two things to check first. make sure the upper spray arm is not clogged with debris or split. Second is to twist and remove the filter and clear out any debris where the water enters the circulation pump impeller. If something has jammed the impeller, you would have to remove the dishwasher, remove the tank, remove the circulation motor and clean out the impeller...Catriver...post back.
